Ok!!

Post by pezcollectorguy »

Ok, I get the point. It is true that not all French people are wine drinking cowards who hate Jews. The government of France has consistently made, in my opinion, very poor decisions about their foreign policies. This however is not a reflection on their society as a whole. (sigh) Is that better?

You know, its one thing to go on and have some fun at France's expense regarding her reputation and such, its quite another to start advocating death to all Frenchmen. Let's have a care what shit you're slinging there Pez because you piled on and ruined some good natured joking here with your call to genocide.

Either criticize her for her policies or make fun of her, but don't start holocaust like bullshit because thats just not cool.

Yeah, I know, I know. My wife, however, was really hurt and/or pissed off by that little bitch pezcollector. I don't deny that France as a nation has its faults, or that there are French people who carry their stereotypes well. But French people obviously don't like or deserve to be lumped into a pot with the worst of their nation any more than, say, the Americans on this board deserve to be lumped in with those of their countrymen who are uneducated redneck fundies, right? *sigh* Anyway, good natured France-bashing may resume, it's their turn in the barrel. :)

You know, reading this thread I started to wonder....when did the shit start hitting the fan between America and France? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Francophile or anything, but they did help us win independence from Britian. (not from the goodness of their hearts, but still) It seems like a late 20th century thing? But yeah, their gov't irritates me, but I'm sure mine does the same to them though. :D

The joke's on the rest of the world actually; the French are the ones that convinced people to pay lots of money to eat invertebrate wads of phlegm (snails) and amphibians. If that's not a giant culinary prank, I don't know WHAT is!

as far as flaming the French may I remind you they have done a number of things to disprove that stereo type.

1. Supplied the crazy savage americans with weapons and troops that actually won the revolt against England
2. Have a damn tough group of soldiers known for scuicidal courage (I think they have a slogan "March or Die", and wear white hats....)
3. kept a very well oiled resistance network going during the second World War.
4. Captured the Terrorist scumbag Illac Ramirez Sanchez (Carlos)

Whilst vacationing on a French beach resort this summer(not one of those mini-Englands, a real French resort), I noticed something.

1) All the Frenchmen/woman from the outlying lands, villages, towns, what have you, were all very nice and polite.

2) The Frenchmen/woman from the CITIES were, on the whole, arseholes.

Hmm...

I saw a few French girls while I was at the local Sushi Shack (Kanpai, a REALLY GOOD Sushi place, but I digress) and they were extremely nice and friendly. I sure made their eyes bug when I started talking to them in French too. They were rather obviously Parisian in origin (Parisian accents are easy to recognize and hard to fake) too. It was a nice little surprise. Dammit I can't wait till Valentines day! It's SUSHI TIME!!

French foreign policy in a nutshell:

Do nothing of your own initiative.
Piss and moan if anyone else decides to take an active role in removing scumbags from power.
Sell weapons to whomever you can, buy commidities from whichever despot gives you the best price.

I don't like the French ppl, I like them less than the English and thats saying something for any Irishman. The Frogs have their panties in a bunch over the oil they think we're gonna steam in and take the oil. That'll be up to the new civilain goverment that gets put in place after we kill Saddam. The French have to learn that if you associate and work with shite (nazi's, islamic fundie goverments, saddam) you start to stink the same way and expect a bitch slapping.

I am perfectly fine with French people. Just Like I would be with an Iraqi, Chinese, Zairean, or Iranian. Good people, HORRIBLE Guvmint. I hope the French pull a Second French Revolution. They are in desparate need of one. Repeat after me: Love their People, Hate their Government. That's my stance on France (Oh GAG I just made a REALLY HORRIBLE rhyme!!! Gahhh!!)

Problem is, the French people haven't done anything about it. They are a democracy, and they allow their government to continue making poor socio, political, and economic decisions. That is a serious problem that must be addressed.

Moreover, I cannot abide by a country that allows ELEVEN PERCENT of its gasoline to be refined illegally. They signed the treaties following the Gulf War. The French need to be enforcing them, as does the United Nations.

While I harbor no grudge against the French people, it is clear that their leadership is consistently making poor decisions, and the fact that their government has a relatively high approval rating in France indicates that a majority of French people are willing to allow their government to make poor decisions for the sake of fuel prices.

There I have no argument. In the extremely laid-back and 'quaint' southern French towns I stayed in, few people even KNEW what happened in the capital, or the rest of the world for that matter. But when I was in England, however, you could go to any little hamlet and everyone would have something to say about current affairs and politics. Some cultures just seemed concerned with their own comfortable and relaxed lives, and will approve of anyone who agrees to support that lifestyle, regardless of any other decisions they make. I'm sure there's a sociologist's dream paper in there somewhere, but that's hardly my field.
