Upon review, I do not have any problem with Zor's OoB. Given that it is an alternate timeline set in about 1700 AD there is little problem with him having about 70 years of advancement upon OTL. If his country skipped the Renaissance cultural mindset of humanism and adopted a mindset that saw technology as a solution to the problems they faced such advancements are readily capable from 12th century science books, 200 some years of research and a bit of metallurgical luck. As long as his points costs are appropriate and he acknowledges that point superior magical units will be combat superior there is no objection from me. I mean, I have biologically enhanced warriors wearing magical knight Chobahm armour and Siege has flying pyramids of doom. As long as his small troops muskets bounce off dragon scales and he has to wheel and aim the cannon to really pelt them, no harm no foul.

Have people considered my suggestion of no support pay for heroes. It will only save most people 300-400 points per year and will make heroes do something special as opposed to simply being big, inflexible combat units that no one is ever going to use except on defense.

Finally, I believe we should have a mod election. I would like to nominate Darkevilme (for his contribution to the ruleset), Pezook (for his story development and interest in balance), and if it is not too presumptuous myself (for my experience Super-Modding STGOD 2K8). Thank you.

I support this idea.

And I'll second PeZook as a mod, if he wants the job.

Sorry, but my intermittent schedule will probably interfere too much with the modding job. Unless it's okay with people if rulings are delayed sometimes.

EDIT: And does this:

I don't think modding will be a full time job. Most of the time any mod decision can be made by any one of the three mods. I am discounting Miriam as a mod because he/she has currently hopped on the train to bansville in SLAM. The only time a third mod is needed if for a big decision that two mods disagree on. Then you would tie-break it.

Mods are only necessary to avoid fiasco's like STGOD2K7's blatant bullshit. Darkevil knows what I am talking about, and the resolution of that mess would have gone far more smoothly with heavy handed moderation instead of the crap that actually transpired. When we moved to STGOD2K8 and laid down better ground rules and took harder reins we didn't have anything like that.

Uh...sure. Of course!

Fingolfin, would your, uh, god-emperor of Byzantium be okay with receiving an envoy of the god-king of Egypt? I guess what I'm asking is essentially, can I send over some of my Khepri priestsesses on a diplomatic mission and rest assured that you won't burn 'em at the stake at first sight?

Nah... I don't think I will go that extreme. As I said, I haven't decided on religion, and quite frankly, I don't have the resources for a massacre spree.

The God Emperor thing is ... tempting, however.

Yeah, I don't mind. Just avoid the religious bit yet because I seriously am not entirely settled on religion. Choices choices choices.

However, I did intend to have my hero to be a psyker/alchemist/super warrior of sorts.

1700? That changes things. Not least most of my army units are rather outdated thanks to the emergence of gunpowder. *needs to make several changes*

Well not necessarily, the emergence of magic was pretty a much a new dark ages due to chaos, disorder, isolation and people growing extra heads.

More relevantly though a lot of kingdoms arent using guns for whatever reason.
It can go both ways though and doesnt make much difference due to balancing.

Well gunpowder or not gunpowder is what makes the difference between mounted archers and cossacks. Though pseudo-cossack like Sarmatians could be kewl.

You know, cossacks aren't defined as "musket wielding horsemen". They're a socioethnical group of people :D

And yeah, I intended there to be a six hundred year long dark age due to massive die-offs and destruction of infrastructure. You know, because of the "fantasy" in the title, but I intentionally left the current date vague.

Unless, of course, people do want a pseudonapoleonic fantasy game, it's no problem, but it means rewriting of a lot of OOBs :D

Can we please have a time line outlined again? As it is I'm extremely confused as to the time and dates of events. Not least to what extent are we talking about the destruction of infrastructure? Bearing in mind, the idea of infrastructure in Europe is in the form of dirt tracks or some old Roman road that somehow managed to continue to function. Or in the east where the roads were actually maintained.

Uh...there's also farms, fields, bridges, cities, ports, mills, quarries and mines, all very important for production of advanced technology. Especially farmland is suspectible to being abandoned for a generation or two due to rampaging monsters.

Very well, since I've apparently been chosen as a mod, I will give you all a timeline today evening :D
