Actually, I'm going out to a movie with this Korean girl I know tonight. We went out once before, so hopefully things will go well tonight.

There are plenty of romantic guys, its just that the old adage applies: "good guys finish last." Those of us who are the hopeless romantic types tend to also be the quiet unnoticed types who, in my case, always manage to find just the right amount of self loathing to either drive a girl nuts or keep them away by locking myself away. I try to fluctuate between the two because it means half the year I can be horribly lonely and the other half I can be horribly lonely after I overcomitted yet again.

<EDIT> And then we'll do all of it again on the 20th. Cuz me and my hubby are 31337 like that!
What's on the 20 th?
Me and Dave's real 2 Year Anniversary...
Is that true, or are you just looking for an excuse to have sex?

Anyway, it's still two weeks, I just might try to get a date for Valentine's day. And like everything I do, it's either never going to happen, or happen far later than I intended it to be.

I can vouch for that, nice guys get screwed over, I could be quite the romantic if some lucky lady gave me a chance.

Dealing with girls is a lot like public speaking. You've got to be prepared for failure emotionally, but you can't actually think about it or it'll make you nervous. Self-confidence is all that's required. There's no law that says you can't be a romantic who's sure of himself.

There is no law but there is an awful lot of correlation. From personal experience, nto any wide knowledge on the subject, romantic guys tend to be the more thoughtful and introverted types who will be more self doubting. Its nto a universal truth but its common enough.

8 out of 10 times I can talk to a girl, the hard part is getting them to think of me as more than just another guy.

What I want to do? I actually want to take a cute female prospect out to lunch on Valentine's Day.

What I'll end up doing: Nothing.

What we need is for one of the more successful people on this board to put up a thing on how to talk to girls?

Doesn't work, I know many guys who are very successful with the ladies and its something that's almost inborn I think. You certainly can't teach it.

I agree to an extent it's partially something.

I have friends who have the brains a slug has but enough charm to fool three women easily to believing he is there one and only.

Honestly it's that factor I have never quite grasped.

Also a lot depends on the females as well given that each one has certain choices in tastes and outlook...though looks if in an extreme can hurt or hinder depending.
