This is the first time I shed a tear of joy about a presidential election.

Amazingly enough, it was the first one I could vote in.

History has been made tonight. :D

Dude, that's not what "celibate" means. The word you're thinking of is "celebrate".

I have tears of joy running down my face right now. Now that we know we won, the next thing to see is whether it will be a complete landslide.

I imagine the mood is considerably less celebratory in the Confederacy.

BBC so far have the count at 297EV for President-Elect Obama and 145 for the Gimp, who now has to go back in his box and will be haunted by the ghost of Obama for the rest of his life.

Ted Koppel is giving a sobering reminder of the challenges Obama will face come January 20th at home and abroad. It is well to be reminded of that even in this moment of triumph.

A great fucking day in American politics. I know I've liked Obama since before the primaries and I never, ever thought he'd make it. It's a great feeling to have the person who actually deserves the presidency to make it in, not the "lesser of two" that it seemed to be in past years.

I'm curious about the statement he'll make. If he wants to shine as a statesman, now's the time.
