Darkevilme's new art sharing thread.
Cause the old one was cluttered and i've improved since then. Behold the Redux of the Dominion and the original version, comparison style.

The model looks good. The textures could use some more work. It esspecially lacks a bump map and a specular map. You are really going to need these.
Here´s a very good tutorial on it:
http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread. ... 6&t=373024
And get rid of that blue background. Render the guy with a white background on a plane with a matte/shadow material (don´t know what it´s called in blender. It´s a material that makes the object itself invisible and renders only the recieved shadows)

No. Looks like you simply put a procedural noise map into the bump slot and the diffuse is still the same.

It's the original texture made monochrome with the contrast turned up a lot which admittedly might look a lot like noise. Not sure how to do a diffuse/specular map thingy yet.

Robots rock my socks... this one just shouts "FREEDOM IS THE SOVEREIGN RIGHT OF EVERY AMERICAN"!
Does it throw nuclear footballs?
EDIT: In case no one noticed, I really like your work!

Red background, the tentacle like arms and the entire colour scheme remind me of the B5 Vorlons. Did you have them in mind when you made your ship?

Okay so i spec mapped it which doesnt have much of an effect.
Thanks Muffin. Alas though this one exchanges nuclear footballs for arm guns, poor trade i know maybe the next one'll have a backpack full of nukes.
Murazor, the Chamaran ship design ethos has had a fair few inspirationsl. The vorlons were probably one and i do see the resemblance.

Mights its hands be a tad bigger with thicker fingers? They look awfully delicate compared to the rest of the 'bot.Darkevilme wrote:Thanks Muffin. Alas though this one exchanges nuclear footballs for arm guns, poor trade i know maybe the next one'll have a backpack full of nukes.

Otherwise, I like it. It reminds me somewhat of this crazy metal Japanese robot action figure I had years ago.

A fellow Blender user?
Looks very good, especially the robot. Only complaint is that it looks like you forget to smooth some of your stuff. Other than that, all good.

I havent done hands before really. I'm working on a new set of hands for the mechanical man now. Hopefully beefier looking.FSTargetDrone wrote:Mights its hands be a tad bigger with thicker fingers? Re: Darkevilme's new art sharing thread.
The ship is reasonable. There is no need for the arms to be thicker. It's a spaceship, it doesn't have to support its weight against gravity, and putting more mass in those outriggers would make it harder to maneuver. The robot looks rather crude.
I will not be satisfied until you make a catgirl. Maybe a robot catgirl, like this.
