Does anyone have a study on the effects of legalized marijuana in the zones in the Netherlands that allow it? I'd like to see how crime was affected. I'm not so sure that decriminalizing pot would automatically lead to a decrease in crime.

My father was addicted to marijuana. He never did anything else, not even tobacco. In order to support his habit, he pawned the family silver and everything else of value we had, even stealing the dollar coins I got from the "tooth fairy." We lived in poverty despite his quite sufficient salary. Even if he was an asshole, he didn't like that little rat-infested hovel we lived in any better than my mother. He was either deranged or an addict.salm wrote: it´s hardly addictive. alcohol is and cigarettes are.

Secondary effects: If not bought in a fairly pure form, your likely getting a product with lots of nasty additives.
Recommendation: Buy your shit from your Parents or Grandparents, after all there are enough aging hippies out there, oe grow your own. That way you know your getting a decent priduct.
About the commercials: I really hate em. My parents could never have gotten on my case about pot, or used any of the lies that the Nancy Reagan heads used (Valuim and Booze is ok, pot is not, fucking hypocrites!), created without looking very stupid. My biggest learning experienace about drugs was growing up. I won't hide things from my niece & nephews, I won't lie to them, I don't to my GF's son, the shit is pleasurable, it makes you hungry, fucks up your short term memory, and is no worse then a lot of shit which is LEAGAL!, Never use the shit in combonation with booze, you will become very drunk, and I refuse to let my mom drive, (I have been a passenger when she was stoned or Drunk (Or Both)

For those who don't know my Mother has a degree in agro-science, with a specialty in genetics from HUMBOLT STATE UNIVERSITY.
Guess what she did besides making the world most potant Catnip, and recombining Russian Rye, African Wheat, & Aztec Arhiman to make some super drought resistant/bug resistant hybrid (Which she sold to Shell).

well, i´ve never heard of a case like that. they may exist but if they do they´re extremely rare. still no reason to outlaw it because using that logic you´d have to outlaw about everything people spend money on (internet, sports clubs, bars...)Johonebesus wrote:My father was addicted to marijuana. Ok, so let me see if I can understand the anti-drug reasoning here...
Tobacco is addictive. It causes massive lung damage with long term use, and contributes to a number of other problems, including cancers of the mouth and throat, and heart disease. Its secondhand smoke can cause nonsmokers who live with the smoker to get sick. Unlike alcohol and marijuana, it has no apparent redeeming qualities--it doesn't even get you fucked up. Nevertheless, tobacco should remain legal.
Alcohol is addictive. It causes liver and brain damage with long term use. It effects your judgement, and tends to make people stupid and violent. It you drive drunk, it's much more likely you'll get into an accident. Alcohol can be fatal when too much is ingested at once. Alcohol, however, shouldn't be illegal. Besides the fact that people have the right to get fucked up if they don't hurt others, the last time we attempted alcohol prohibition, it caused massive corruption on every level of government, got hundreds of cops killed, and created a black market that made criminals rich.
Marijuana is addictive. The smoke is carcinogenic, worse than tobacco. It causes long-term brain damage with heavy use. It effects your judgement, makes you do stupid things. If you drive stoned, you're more likely to get into an accident. Even though THC has no established fatal dose, meaning it can't kill you directly, it should be illegal--despite the fact that making it illegal has put thousands of nonviolent drug offenders into prison with murderers and rapists, caused massive corruption on every level of government, gotten hundreds of cops killed, and creates a black market that makes criminals rich.
Ok, drug warriors, enlighten me. How does this represent a consistent policy? Why is marijuana so horrible people need to go to jail for the mere act of possessing it, while booze can be purchased by any American over 21 years of age (19 in Canada, even younger in Europe)?

To those of you who think the war on drugs is ineffective, you only need look at the prison population in the U.S. We have the largest number of people in prison in the world. If that isn't success, then what is?
Pot was illegalised for some excellent reasons, for those of you who didn't know. For one, smoking marijuana can make a white person listen to jazz!
Smoking marijuana can make a black man look at a white woman twice!
Those were two of the arguments made in congress in the 30's to convince our lawmakers to illegalise weed.
Report marijuana use and keep our nation free.

personally i hate the drug commercials that say if you take drugs you will die and nothing can stop you. WTF? you can easilly prevent deaths from various things and NOT TELLING PEOPLE GETS THEM KILLED. Drug use isnt lethal, improper use is. You have more chances of dying driving your car then you do from snorting cocaine, did you know that?

Let's tell everyone that Marijuana impairs girls judgement and makes them promiscuous, that'll make sure no teenege-boy will ever try to get his girlfriend to smoke some pot in the hopes of getting some action that night, right?

Re: Stupidest Damn Anti-Drug Commercial Ever
What's not the worst anti-drug commercial ever. That dubious honour belongs to the 1936 pseudo-documentary movie Reefer Madness, which is supposed to warn its viewers about the "dangers of mary-hwanna" without succeeding.[/url]HemlockGrey wrote:Just saw this on TV:
Opening shot is of a late-twenties, early-thirties women looking at a pregnancy test. She fiddles with it, lays it on the countertop. It's positive.
Her husband walks in and hugs her. Text at the bottom of the screen says "They'll have a new addition to their family soon."
Few seconds, then "Their lives will be changed forever."
So is this a commercial for childcare? Life insurance? Medical services? Baby products? No, because we then see:
"They will be the youngest grandparents in town."
Cut to a shot of a young, teenage girl crying and hugging her knees.
So what is this? Contraceptive ad? Abortion clinic? Counseling clinic? Adoption advert? Safe-sex reminder?
Hardly. Because we then the screen fades to black and it says
"Marijuana; it can seriousy impair your judgement."
WTF? It's a fucking MARIJUANA commercial? What dumbfuck thought THAT one up?
"Hi there, would you like to have a cookie?"
"No, actually I would HATE to have a cookie, you vapid waste of inedible flesh!"

Alcohol users rely on an industry that has an immense political lobby to defend their right to put harmful substances into their body and do stupid things, within a limit of course. Marijuana users have no such political lobby.RedImperator wrote:Why is marijuana so horrible people need to go to jail for the mere act of possessing it, while booze can be purchased by any American over 21 years of age (19 in Canada, even younger in Europe)?

Ofcourse on the topic of alcohol, small amounts of alcohol is actually healthy for the heart.

How many smokers were there before the Baby Boomers? You're implying that the percentage of heavy smokers in the Baby Boomer era was greater than before. The Yosemite Bear wrote:Could someone explain to me why the cancer rate amoung Baby Boomer's hasn't like exploded
Perhaps because not all took in enough THC to accumulate enough brain damage?or the fact that they are still in possession of their brain cells?

I already have friends my own age who have the perminant hack, and can't breath from Cigs, I have friends who who suffered perminate brain damage from Fetal exposure to alcohol.
I have been tested as having a genius IQ (Despite my inability to spell), My mother is one of the heaviest pot users I have ever seen. My stepfather uses it to deal with his Agent Orange related health problems. That's right I know more people who use pot regularly who are in better health then people a generation younger. Fuck, I don't even drink anymore and I have Diabetes, failling internal organs, & have had Melenoma from hanging out in the sun too much.

Sorry to be off topic and so on, but I have a guestion, Why are Shrooms illegal? Are they even addictive? I've never done them so I don't know.
