well I knew some PvP items were practically free, but fully 100% free I've not heard off and also the cities aren't that abanddoned atm (granted I'm at an EU server)
I may be an idiot, but I'm a tolerated idiot

Re: New World of Warcraft expansion: 3.0.2 patch update
I'd actually recommend either enchanting or jewelcrafting for someone starting right now (after leveling with herbalism/mining). Enchanting is currently experiencing a renaissance with the vellums and being able to post enchants on the AH. I've earned over 5k from basically nothing (300g) in the last two weeks by putting enchants up on the AH with a 100% or better profit margins and exploiting certain AH peculiarities like void crystals costing 5g do to the invasion event sharding, while the large prismatic shards cost 5-8g (there is a enchantment formula available at exalted with the SSO that converts a void into 2 shards). Even if the market slows down in WoTLK, I think an intelligent enchanter will be able to find good niches for his wares (for example, my most profitable scroll so far is Crusader, while most of the TBC stuff, especially high-end, is a much more risky sale).
On the other hand, Jewelcrafters can make a killing on epic gems easily. My cousin, a dedicated PvP player, so his earning were almost exclusively AH manipulation, earned an absurd amount on them - something like 50k+ gold.
Both professions are excellent gold multipliers, but you need a couple of hundred in initial capital and a little bit of sense to make a good profit off them. Knowing a few useful recipes for each (not necessarily the flashy high end stuff either, as seen above) also helps a lot.

as things are now, getting enough gold shouldn't really be a problem anymore (you easily get around 100g from Quel'Danas alone in about an hour) and in my imho Alchemy would be more usefull in PvE/PvP play

So you can take on Quel'Danas as a level 30 character, right? Because I don't have anything above 40.Lord Revan wrote:as things are now, getting enough gold shouldn't really be a problem anymore (you easily get around 100g from Quel'Danas alone in about an hour) and in my imho Alchemy would be more usefull in PvE/PvP play
Not everyone in the game has a maxed-level character.
GR, I managed to make a decent-looking NE male. He's got muttonchops, but they suit his face, and as far as the body goes...well...whoever did the skin texture new a bit about muscle definition...
As far as Alchemy goes, I was thinking I might get sick of it because I was doing it on more than one character - which character specifically has it doesn't matter.

Yeah, but you yourself point out, you do not have it anywhere near the higher levels. Really in that particular, Alchemy isn't that bad. Blacksmithing and Engineering on the other hand are huge massive sinks of bars and with engineering leather and rock. I won't even get into Enchanting or Inscription. The first 300 points are still fucked in comparison to the later because for some reason Blizzard thinks their old system worked.Molyneux wrote:So you can take on Quel'Danas as a level 30 character, right? And really is why I pointed out females. The male bodies on every Alliance looks silly, except the dwarves and that's only because the fuckers are short . But preference is just as that, preference.
Also Warriors? They really do suck for almost the whole early level experience. You essentially charge, auto attack, Battle Shout, maybe press heroic strike. At level 40? You press Bloodthirst or Mortal Strike and maybe squeeze a Whirlwind. At level 70? Charge/Intercept Auto Attack, BT/MS, Whirlwind...repeat. Either Shammy or Rogues are more fun when it comes to melee. And this is coming from a guy who's done two level 70 warriors with a immense amount of decked out gear.

It appears Blizzard noticed the firesale prices:Lord Revan wrote:well I knew some PvP items were practically free, but fully 100% free I've not heard off and also the cities aren't that abanddoned atm (granted I'm at an EU server)
NOVEMBER 12, 2008 3:00 AM PST
We will be performing an urgent maintenance on all realms beginning at 4:00 AM PST. We anticipate no more than three hours of downtime. This maintenance is designed to correct a very recent issue where players were able to obtain certain PvP items without paying the intended price.

No, no, you misunderstand! I find the male NE body design to be very easy on the eyes.Ghost Rider wrote:And really is why I pointed out females. LOL, all good then. I just found most the male formats hilarious. Really, I picked the male human because it looked kinda accurate. Course the same model is used for the mana classes which makes it funny to look at popeye arms on them.Molyneux wrote:No, no, you misunderstand! The Draenei are not really Horde-ish. They are basically Space Tauren that were given a facelift so they can fit in with the Alliance races. Unfortunate since I actually wish my guy could look more like Akama.Molyneux wrote:Well, what other choices did I have? I wanted something a bit less Horde-ish than a Draenei, humans look just plain ugly, gnomes are silly, and while I was thinking of playing a dwarf I wasn't much in a mood for beards.
My paladin is Draenei, and the race is great (best starting zone, IMHO). I'm probably going to make my Death Knight a human, though, because they have the best racial ability, bar none. If I got to choose my own racial abilities, Diplomacy would be very first on the list.
Also, Draenei tails give you sort of a Dilbert's Tie effect when you have Show Cloak on.

You Allies can have the bloody Blood Elves and their magic addiction, give us back our space goats! If I find the NE warrior frustrating, I may just reroll a Draenei warrior or paladin.

I'm torn on my Death Knight choice. Diplomacy is amazing when grinding rep, but my experience tells me that Orc is the only choice. Bloodfury is just too good for all aspects of the game, either PvP or PvE.Civil War Man wrote:My paladin is Draenei, and the race is great (best starting zone, IMHO). Re: New World of Warcraft expansion: 3.0.2 patch update
Every Man for Himself in some ways outdoes everything. It literally replaces the PvP trinket for another resilience trinket with a different buff or another trinket entirily. Sure the perception nerf hurts, but having played a human rogue, it's nice to even have a slight advantage with a free trinket slot.Crown wrote:I'm torn on my Death Knight choice. Re: New World of Warcraft expansion: 3.0.2 patch update
No doubt. EMfH is freakin' sexy, but there are certain racials/classes that outdo it. For example, if you're min/maxing on Alliance and rolling Warrior for PvP then 'roll Gnome or go home' holds out. Removing 2 snares as a Warrior > getting 100 odd AP.Ghost Rider wrote:Every Man for Himself in some ways outdoes everything. And as I was saying though, BF > for PvP and PvE. What makes Humans attractive is both racials combined, Diplomacy and EMfH. And Perception is not all that bad, it's like having Paranoia permanently - which was sucky when we had it on our Felpup, but it's absolute garbage now on our Void Walker.
But from my point of view it's a mute point, since my Main is Horde and he's maxed out on JC/Enchanting and Cooking (lol) with 12kHP and 1k spell damage and 30% crit. In other words, I would roll an Alliance Death Knight just so I could experience, but I would never leave my Main Warlock, so if I were to roll a DK that I would actually be 'serious' in playing, he'd have to be Horde. Hence 'ORC SMASH' wins out.
