[SG1] Teal'c's Age

Post by Crazedwraith »

I've been watching SG:A's fourth season (another topic entirely) and have got up to "Midway" a Ronon/Teal'c buddy cop movie shrunk down to 45 minutes.

Now I seem to recall reading that Teal'c got aged an additional 80 years as off the SG-1 finale. Hence the wide white streak in his hair, and yet he can still spar with Ronon for the better part of an hour. (Worst scene ever)

He was 100 in "The Light" (SG-1 Season 4) so by now he's pushing 200.

On the other hand Bra'tac's an old fart. yet I seem to recall his age being stated in season 1 as around 130 and by Threshold he was supposed to be too old to take a symbiote.

Did they ever address this discrepancy? Is Tretonin far more effective in the age retardation area than even an actual symbiote?

I think it was 50 years, but other than that I think Crazedwraith is right. Bra'tac was consistently never much older than Teal'c than about 20-30 years, which leads to all sorts of other inconsistencies throughout the series. From a SoD point of view, I think it is required that we must assume that the refined Jaffa-type tretonin has greater life-expectancy than using symbiotes, or at least eliminates the problems with rejecting new implantations.

Teal'c was born in 1899, and gained FIFTY years in Unending, not 80. Bra'tac was born in 1854.
