Terminator: Tokyo SOS
S'been a while since I remember participating in any good old fashioned VS shit, so here goes:
The year is 2004, and Skynet sends yet another T-1000 back in time. This time, the target is Kiryu, specifically to use the robot to dominate the post-apocalyptic landscape swiftly and uproot the Resistance with thorough impunity. If it can survive being pummeled by Godzilla, it can take anything a few rebels have to throw at it while mashing any cover they try to hide under. The T-1000 simply plans to either infiltrate the repair facility and kill the crew once it is launched to counter Godzilla, or approach it on foot when it is being fielded and ooze up it's leg and into Kiryu's manual control port. Once in control, the T-1000 will contact Skynet and prompt it to commence Judgment Day, and assume control of the satellites that power Kiryu.
Assume that this is a joint Terminator-Godzilla timeline, but for reasons unknown, all kaiju went into extended hibernation after Skynet launched the nukes, and neither the Resistance nor Skynet has been troubled by kaiju since, allowing both franchise timelines to more or less carry on uninterrupted. As well, assume the Resistance sends an Arniebot to stop the T-1000 from boarding Kiryu and turning it into Skynet's mobile forttress, with supplementary objectives like protecting resistance notables and gathering data on kaiju migration routes in the hopes of locating and waking one in the future to harass Skynet. Mothra and the twin fairy protectors are aware of their presence immediately, and though they do not know about Skynet, are well positioned to learn about it if they look in on the right people. They're bound to try to talk to someone as they usually do when they learn about things like this.
Who could the fairies solicit to stop the T-1000, and what would the turnout be? Assume the T-1000 arrives near the Yokota Air Base outside of Tokyo, and the T-800 in some random back alley in the Shibuya District, which I'm sure not far from how an actual Termie-does-Japan movie would be written anyways.

Hey! Whatshisname, that sword-wielding Joseph Stalin guy from Final Wars, was able to beat up a couple of those crazy kung-fu alien robots with his bare hands using his awesome UFC fighting skills. I think he might have what it takes to ruin a Terminator's shit. And there's that Wapanese Neo guy, the one who totally ruined that alien X guy's shit.

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
That's in the GFW timeline. None of them presumably exist in the SOS timeline.
Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
Hmmmm....
This could get very interesting very quickly.
If the T-800 makes contact with Mothra's priestesses, very quickly, Skynet could discover that the Kaiju were just waiting for a signal from the resistance to kick the living crap out of it and it's machine armies. The various Kaiju appeared to be able to communicate with each other in all the various franchie incarnations/timelines, and while violent, none of them seem to want Humanity terminated, just frightened and running around on occasion.
I have this mental image of the Kaiju taking out the battleship, then Godzilla leading them against Skynet's army, with John Connor on his head urging them on to victory.
That, and various Terminators looking at the Kaiju army, looking at Skynet's forces, and then changing sides out of a sense of self-preservation.

I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.
It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

That would be awesome, but most of the Kaiju in that timeline were small timers, IIRC. Godzilla and Mothra being the only real big players, weren't they? Garia and Kameobas are not exactly that threatening.Solauren wrote:Hmmmm....

If we extend it to the Original Toho Critters, that gives us things like Varan, Rodan, maybe Baragon and the Frankenstien Giant as well. Ganimes and Gezorah too, since we have Space Ameoba's critters.

Could any of you please quantify the abilities of the characters you are talking about here?

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
Okay...
Godzilla (X Series 3)
-55 Meters tall
- Amphibious
- Atomic Ray (Unknown, I suck at quanitifcations and can't re-watch things ATM, one atomic ray was calced at several kt/second IIRC)
- Resistant to damage (Struck with "Absolute Zero Canon", a device which freezes objects it strikes to absolute Zero, and not only survived, but recieved only a (rather large) wound on its chest because of it; annoyed by Type 90 "Maser Canons", more powerful ones in sensitive spots caused him pain; conventional Weapons, of course, prove ineffective)
- Recovery (Lesser than other Godzillas, the injury caused by the Absolute Zero Canon is healed within a year, but still sensitive)
- Amphibious
Mothra (X Series)
- Adult can fly at Mach 4, wings can generate hurricane force winds
- As it begins to die, it can shed scales from its wings to disorient attackers and parly deflect beam attacks (they explode) and missiles (they also explode)
- Larva can spray silk. Silk resistant to atomic heat ray developed by military. "Stronger than steel" and capable of binding Godzilla.
- Adult has 100m wingspread, larva are about 40m long.
- Larva resisted Type 60 tank rounds, adult resisted 1960s level anti-air defenses
- Adult has limited stealth (anti-Radar) capabilities, IIRC.
Garia/Sanda
- Grown from the severed cells of the Frankenstien Giant--as long as it can grab protien it can regenerate.
- 18m tall.
- Garia is amphibious
- Garia was originally driven off by very bright lights/sunlight, but adapted over time.
- Annoyed by Type 61 and Sherman Tank rounds, but visibly hurt by 1 million volts of electicity after being hearded into an electified lake by the JSDF using controlled fires and Type 66 "Maser canons"
Type 66 Maser canon
- Generates a beam capable of slicing through the tops of trees in far less than a second (exact time unknown, I can't check at the moment).
Kameobas
- Shows up as a dead body in the X series film.
- Dropped in a Volcano and destroyed (likely overkill)
- Resisted rifle rounds off its skin, shell unknown density.
- 20 meters long.
- Amphibious
Those are the ones that showed up in the films, at least, and this is just the stuff off the top of my head and may be riddled with mistakes, but it's something.

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
Considering that the vs. is "Infiltrate the JSDF base and steal a Super Robot built around the bones of the original Godzilla", the other Kaiju, for the most part, don't even apply.
Kiryu is 60m tall, armed with laser canons (arms), missile pods (attatched to back), a "Drill Hand" for close-in attacks (replacement for damaged arm), maser canon mouth blaster and tripple maser canon chest blaster. It can partly withstand Godzilla's atomic ray, but requires external power sources (aformenetioned satelights) to move for long periods of time.
I can't remember the base security systems.

Who cares? The only actual problem here is the lack of quantified evidence. It would, for example, be possible to calculate the energy release involved in the JSDF's Type 66 masers, if Majin Gojira could provide mroe exact information - or better yet, a video clip.Thanas wrote:^I am sorry, but that is simply too hilarious to be considered a serious versus debate.

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
There's a breif snibit here (1:50 to 1:54), where they cut (and by cut, it appears to partly varporize a segment of the tree to cause it to fall) through a line of 20+m tall trees. The tops appear to be somewhat less than a meter in width, but beyond that, I can't say.
The Type 66 is retired as of Godzilla X Mechagodizlla with the Type 90 Maser Canon taking its place. It is similarly fragile, operating at decreesed capacities in the rain.
Here, at 12-15 seconds in, we see it strike steel and cement, which puff smoke when hit. There also appears to be some mass loss on the cement segment struck if you look closely (as much as youtube lets you).
and here it the operationt he JSDF launched against Garia that I mentioned above.
Now lets see if I can find something for the modern one...

The closest I can find for the modern one is just a shot of Kiryu in "Berserker" mode destroying a city. here. Sadly, he doesn't use his main maser canon on the city.

Yeah, a lot of the timelines, especially the Millennium ones, appear to have wiggle room to retcon in kaiju from the Showa series and make it seem like there wasn't reason to mention their name until that moment in the story. Pretty much any earth Showa monster not from silly undersea kingdoms or Okinawan shrines ought to be able to fit into the backstory of this joint SOS-Terminator timeline.Majin Gojira wrote:That would be awesome, but most of the Kaiju in that timeline were small timers, IIRC. Hell, if someone had the time, they could see their way to writing a fanfic around the idea of Skynet and the resistance going back and forth through multiple worldlines where the different Godzilla continuities took place.
If you think that'd be more interesting to focus on, go for it. Hell, Mechagodzilla 2 and MOGUERA could also make for excellent prizes for Skynet.Shroom Man 777 wrote:Man, Mecha King Gidorah being controlled by Skynet would be AWESOME!

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
If disturbing the bones of the first Godzilla was as apt to rouse both kaijus sense of injustice as the priestesses said it did, then Skynet is bargaining for more than it can handle by trying to retain Kiryu. I don't wager Skynet will simply surrender Kiryu at the insistence of the fairies, and probably won't even buy their story for that matter.Majin Gojira wrote:Considering that the vs. is "Infiltrate the JSDF base and steal a Super Robot built around the bones of the original Godzilla", the other Kaiju, for the most part, don't even apply.

So, pretty much everything up to Destroy All Monsters (but not that film) and then jumping to one shot films after that? That would include such monsters as:TithonusSyndrome wrote:Yeah, a lot of the timelines, especially the Millennium ones, appear to have wiggle room to retcon in kaiju from the Showa series and make it seem like there wasn't reason to mention their name until that moment in the story. No Sea Kingdom creatures? Damn it, I want to watch Megalon spit grenades at Terminators!
Hell, he'd be one hell of a seige weapon to use against Skynet. Just have him burrow under it's bases at Mach 2 (i'm not kidding) and then burst out. Or have him fly overhead at Mach speeds and just crash down.

Ouch! This is starting to sound like Firefly vs. 40K, scratch that Harry Potter vs. 40K... Just a question of when the Kaiju win.

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
Not necessarily. For the most part, kaiju seem to be forces of nature, and only attack because humans have managed to piss them off somehow—or at least the earthbound ones. If Skynet manages to set off Judgment Day but fails to retain Kiryu, it's possible the kaiju just wouldn't give a damn, since humanity has been greatly weakened and is no longer in any position to disrupt the natural order.
Granted, it's equally possible the nuclear barrages seriously piss off the kaiju, in which case yeah, Skynet's fucked. Especially since IIRC Millennium Gojira is supposed to be a vengeance spirit fueled by the dead souls of nuclear victims.

So, is anyone going to try and make guesses as to the power of the Type 66 Maser cannons? I spent all of 10 minutes searching youtube for clips, darnit!

Re: Terminator: Tokyo SOS
What would happen of Godzilla stepped on a T-1000? Would the excessive force and pressure scramble the T-1000 up like an omelet even more so than a 40mm grenade to the gut? Would Godzilla's latent radioactivity fuck it up? If a non-radioactive Kaiju stomped on it...?

ACtually, this is closer to Bambi vs Godzilla. (which ironically, is like Star Trek vs Star Wars)Invictus ChiKen wrote:Ouch! This is starting to sound like Firefly vs. 40K, scratch that Harry Potter vs. 40K... Just a question of when the Kaiju win.
