1 Emporer's Hand vs. UFP Gov.
that's right instead of a small fleet of ships, the emporer sends Mara Jade, in a small frieght ship, as a "Diplomatic Emmisarry" to the UFP, Officially to set up relations between the Alpha Quadrant superpower, and an empire that spans a galaxy. Her actual mission is to return with the unconditional surrender/Treaty of Subjegation from the Feds.
The scariest folk song lyrics are "My Boy Grew up to be just like me" from cats in the cradle by Harry Chapin
Mara Jade? Verus the entire UFP? Piece of cake. Mara takes it easily, since her personal shuttle probably carries more firepower than a GCS. Plus she's trained in not only Force use but sneaky, underhanded assassination/infiltration techniques. The UFP would never see her coming.
Though Section 31 would probably try to recruit her if they had a clue what they were dealing with.

She would probably carry a few sunchrusher torps with her. She would sneak into the Vulcan's star system and take them out, narrowly escaping the destruction. Then she heads to Sol and threatens the Feds with another one if they don't give up.

Using the Force to influence the Politicos would be a more viable alternative...

The Federation might bow down after a 20-meter ship blows away several major capital units with its opening missile salvo.
Her best bet though is to seize a small Starfleet vessel and grab the prefix codes.

This is not the Empire's style. Why not just send her win command of a Death Star or an SSD. This would show weakness and then the Klingons might get their panties in a twist and try to move against the Empire. Of course, that move would at the number one spot in the book So You Want to Commit Sucide....

Try not to use "lost tech" when making your arguments, and besides, the Emperor never even new about the Sun Crusher. no one in the Empire outside of the maw Installation did for that matter. Also, supposing she did have the resonance torps, why would she have to "sneak" into the VUlcan system with her ship and then how would she "narrowly" escape the destruction. Once she launches the torp she can get out of there well ahead of the destruction.
Mara Jade would do it two ways. SPill enough blood to fill the UFP building in 3 feet of crimson sludge or so completely slick that no one would ever fiure out what had happened and ever possibly could.

Damn I can't even finish my first one without you coming up with something dumber
As for your assenine remark about the Klingons showing up i'm just going to guess that you heard the "panties in a twist" line for the first time and just HAD to use it so that people would think youre incredibly slick.
First of all Mara Jade has no command experience I know of regarding capital ships other than the freighters she utilized while working for Talon Karrde (after she was an Emperors Hand). aNd everyone knows that a Death Star or SSD would cut through the ST galaxy like a lightsaber through flesh. THe point of the thread is rearding her abilities and intrusion and assanination. Also, Palpatine used his agents in many discreet ways. Imperial Intelligence and COMPNOR performed so many acts of subterfuge during the New Order that people began to fear Imperial Agents about as much as they did stormtroopers. This is not the Empire's style. Why not just send her win command of a Death Star or an SSD. This would show weakness and then the Klingons might get their panties in a twist and try to move against the Empire. Of course, that move would at the number one spot in the book So You Want to Commit Sucide....

Sorry, I was wrong in my assumpitions. I digress. I would personally send her and a squand of Imperial guards with her for backup. Besides that, she could just sleep with the Fed President and use the weakened state of mind to set up some permanet mental commands in his mind. The guards would then secretly kidnap the families of critical personal and secretly force them to surrender. After they leave, they blow a small hypermatter bomb to cover their tracks. of course, the bomb wuldn't go off until after the surrender was announced. The confusion would allow the Empire to quickly overwhelm the Federation.

Hold on, where the hell did these "ideas come from" Why would you send a squad of Imperial Guards? She doesn't necessariyl need them and if she did need support thre are other agents better for the task. Imperial guards do not function in that capacity.
Also, since when has Mara Jade EVER used force powers to influence the minds of others, she was fully trained in the force and the extent of her abilities were limited when compared to Jedi Masters and some of the more powerful Knights. Also, to bring up the "sleep with president" idea is ludicrous on merit alone. then this idiotic idea with a bomb going off after an announced surrender. With the surrender the Empire walks in and takes over bloodlessly.

I tend to read a lot of syp novels by Ian Flemming and Tom Clancy. Thats where i got the idea of sending the guards for back up. The whole use of sex comes from the book Dune becuse the Harkonnens were accused of trying a stunt like that once. I enve took a page from LOTR by using mind control on the Fed President. It seemed a little on the extreme side, I know, but it would have a better effect.

But Imperial Guards do not serve in that manner. They are there to protect the Emperor and serve as his guard alone, your idea would be best fit with Imperial Commandos or some Dark Side agentssuch as Jerec or the other Hands.

Just think about the damage she could do by "Inadvertantly" dropping a few blaster Carbines, and Thermal detonators off with the Maquis?
suddenly every last fucked up terrorist group now has 10x the fire power as the governments trying to stop them. And with luck she could have it all blamed on the "Evil Rebels".

When did Daala ever take the plans with her. She might have some kind of schematic but I doubt she has any idea how to make the resonance torpedoes or the Neutronium armor that lets it survive TL blasts. So the design might not be lost, but the components are, they went down with the Prototype death star and tol Sivron's scientists, and when Qwi Xux had her memory wiped.

Actually they do get sent out on missions for him and get rotated into Stormtrooper units as well.Darth Fanboy wrote:But Imperial Guards do not serve in that manner. Yes they do get rotated out into stormtrooper units, but not as official members of the Imperial guard. Where haveImperial Guardsmen gone when it didn't concern the direct security and welfare of the Emperor though?
No help from Starwars.com and the only thing the Thrawn Duology is giving me is that occaisionally the guardsmen were rotated through stormtrooper units (though this idea seems utterly ridiculous to me I can't go against it)

N-1's suck shit. But the Neb B's could probably wipe out much of the Cardassian military and its infrastructure using hit and run raids. A few surface bombardments plus that and I think we'd see the Maquis carving out there own section of the neutral zone and Cardassian space for a new star nation.Typhonis 1 wrote:Theres an Idea what kind of hell could the Maquis raise with say 3 nebulon bs and a few score Naboo N-1 fighters and supplies?

This is a simple politics debate, no bloody armies. A goverment needs more than armies to win a war. All Jade has to do is to talk to the Feddie council, explain what she can do, explain that her powers are only a shadow of her masters. Show them a readout of her ships firepower and a demonstration if need be. A few nudges with the force persuasion and they'll surrender. Remember Tarkins Doctrine "Fear by threat of force ......."

Given how the Federation Council and elements of SF can be underhanded(remember ST:Insurrection), I would guess Mara Jade would have a much easier time then expected. A promise of some weapons(nothing that would compete with imperial weapons mind you) and some Force usage to influence the Federation's side during talks would have the Empire taking the Alpha and Beta quadrants with minimum effort.
