I think you fail to understand that most Muslims either like America or don't give a shit one way or the other. The thing with religions is that they set up a win-win situation. If something bad happens to you, it's okay because God wanted to either test you or punish you for your wickedness. If something good happens, it's because God wanted to reward you or to punish your enemies.

The problem with the current Iraqi position is that they are admitting that God was not powerful enough to protect them during the Gulf War. They claim that Allah is punishing the Americans for the incursion, but they aren't talking about why he didn't do that in the first place.

Thus, even if we assume for the moment that God does exist in the sense that the Iraqis want him to, he is no more powerful than the United States and its Coalition allies.

Beware that kind of logic. People in the rest of the world have long commented on the casual American attitude to the civilian casualties caused by their various bombing campaigns. Stories of massive Iraqi casualties during the last war and as an indirect result of sanctions are met with a collective yawn from America. So-called "collateral damage" in various countries, often dismissed as insignificant by American pundits if it can't be proven to count into the thousands of immediate, direct deaths, still vastly exceeds the crew of a single shuttle. Why are these casualties dismissed as insignificant?

We all feel badly about the shuttle. But acting high and mighty because Saddam doesn't feel the same way is just ridiculous, and is throwing stones from a glass house. There are other reasons to go after Saddam.

I just think it's funny that the Iraqis don't like us, because the US government is going to impose it's will on them. This is what Saddam has been doing for decades, and when it switches to American control they're going to get what amounts to social welfare (or perhaps much more, if left-wing suspicions about this being a war for a real foothold in the middle east are correct). But they don't want to have an American-controlled government and food, they want an Iraqi dictator and starvation.
