X-Box Live Help

Post by SecondToDie »

I've had an X-Box 360 for several months, but never got around to joining X-Box Live until today. I created an X-Box Live profile with the same name as my existing offline profile and didn't think anything of it until I started up Perfect Dark Zero and my saved games were gone. I tried using the recover gamertag tool, but that didn't work. I don't really know much about how X-Box Live works and the official website wasn't helpful.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can recover my offline saved games?

You can move or copy them (assuming you have a memory card as well as a hard drive) while you're signed in with your Live gamertag, but you wont be able to get achievements with those saves. If you want achievements you have to start new save files.

Did you make a new one entirely or did you turn your offline one into a Live account?

You can't copy saves for all games. Perfect Dark Zero is one that you can't copy.

Did you create an Xbox Live account, or did you turn the offline account into an Xbox Live account? You only keep your achievements and saves with the second one.

I did the first one. When I was setting up my account, I gave my X-Box Live profile the same name as my offline profile. A message popped up saying that I already had a profile with the same name. I continued, though, because I figured that it would just transfer all my saved games and such to the new profile.

No, it probably replaced the old profile.
