Ford Prefect wrote:Fuuuuck yeah! Man, he looks good in that uniform. It suits him better than anyone else. Also, Louise looks pretty good in casual clothes, though I have been wondering what they used to replace her missing hand. It's probably some sort of cybernetic prosthetic, but it strikes me as odd that was never considered in the first season when regrowing it was out.
Based on the fact that those pills she was popping earlier are supposed to prevent rejection of her cybernetic replacement hand, the GN particles probably did more than just make it so she couldn't regrow her hand.
VF5SS wrote:NADLEEH! You know that probably isn't Tieria. A lot of people have pointed out that we see three tubes with purple haired people in the OP. Then again, the fact that we all want to see Tieria in a dress is just a testament to how skillfully the director has managed to train us. We want it soooo bad.
But come on, are you gonna tell me that the first time you saw Tieria (concept art of whatever) you didn't think, "Oh look a female Gundam pilot." It's that feeling that has been kept the entire time. It's why Tieria has such a manly voice and why that one CD drama has him pretending to be a girl. They are toying with us.
Ford Prefect wrote:Also, I saw Sunday's ep. I was impressed by Sergei's farewell, but at the same time I'm surprised they tied the Marie plot thread off so quickly.
On the other hand, now Allelujah gets to have wacky love triangle hijinks with Marie and Sumeragi.

Where did you find that out? Did I miss dialogue or something?

I remember the very first 00 thread. The incredulity of Tiera being male was nigh universal.

That's what he gets for showing up on Sumeragi's doorstep looking totally fly.

It was from a translation of the GNX-III high grade manual. I don't have it on me, but I did provide a link a few pages back to a forum that posts all that kind of stuff. Although fair warning, it's not the best organized forum in the world.

Well if you want to look at it that way Hal was the one that Sumeragi really had a "relationship" with, so she technically already lost her reason to fight 4 years ago. Of course should Hal ever come back that will make for one heck of a love triangle, or possible foursome to fivesome depending on the Hal/Al and Soma/Marie factor
Ford Prefect: The GN-XIII 1/144 model kit has a brief bio of Louise, that's where it specifies that Louise's hand is a cybernetic replacement.
Rough translation (VERY rough):
Louise Halevy, member of the Independent Peacekeeping Force A-Laws. Holds the rank of Ensign (or whatever it is that's directly below 2nd Lieutenant). Lost her left hand to a GN beam attack from Gundam Throne in the last war. As it is impossible to regrow, she currently has a cybernetic replacement instead. Holds great anger at the loss of her family and her happiness...
I know there is a method, but all I see is the madness.
Jesus, these supplementary materials. Here's a link to a thread in the Animesuki forums with a number of concept art scans. The first picture on the page seems to be one of the old-type Hellions from Sumeragi's flashback. Also, it seems the ESF is determined to convert their inventory of obsolete Tierens into a hilarious zoo of specialist models.
And when I'm sad, you're a clown
And if I get scared, you're always a clown

That's some of the stuff I really love about 00, the world building. The creative team has done such a ridiculous job at building the 00 world and pay attention to its military. Other than the idea that mecha are the be-all-end-all in combat (which we forgive since it is Gundam) it takes everything else seriously.
While I actually like 00's world building, I just have to make sure you realise that I was poking fun at the concept. Having a Tieren attach to the orbital elevator cables is actually a pretty bad idea, though it is amusing. I mean, it's just not going to have a lot of utility, unlike the anti-air variant.
I know you're joking about it being a great idea. It's hilarious how they keep finding niches for the Tierens, but considering the previous strikes on the Solar elevators they would be handy to have fast response units constantly riding up and down. We saw that the standard air units they have floating about can't always respond fast enough to terrorist attacks and considering the sheer number of outdated Tierens lying around this would make it easier and most likely at a lower cost.
I suppose that would depend on the nature of the terrorist attack. If it's an external missile attack like in the first ep of the first season, I doubt the Elevator Tierens would be all that effective, unless they could ejected into space. That has its own technical ramifications. I can appreciate the idea, though, even if I do think it's silly.
True, but still the repurposing of existing abundant military hardware still just strikes of the real world. How many military systems have been modified and had their roles expanded, the Tieren is like the B-52 of 00. All those original posters in the first 00 thread and being continually proven correct on how hardcore the design was
Will be "adjusted" by Episode 11. Which means there needs to be even more tech goodies towards the middle/end of the show. This is from the magazine spoilers. Apparently Twin Drive will show its "true capability" by episode 12.
I always knew Tieria would make a beautiful bride. Having watched the episode, that's really him. He has his regular voice in addition to a womanly voice you hear once. Tieria has now been upgraded to EPIC TRAP. He even had a tiny pistol in his sexy garters. And Lockon now haunts Tieria. Goddamn, 00, this shit is getting real. Next episode, PRINCE ALI IS GONNA FUCK YO' SHIT UP!
The bish in a dress thing, you mean? It's not unprecedented, what with Loran Cehack in ∀ Gundam. Maybe they'll even have Mr. Bushido fall into the trap.
Look, I don't know. We all thought he was a girl, and then it turned out he was actually a man. AND NOW HE HAS BOOBS. This is like when we were getting trolled with Ozma's death in Macross F. At least Loran had the excuse that he was always meant to be a girl, and Tomino was just rebelling against the suits.
So, they never explained Titieria's hotness! Even the voice could be changed at will, and nothing looked prosthetic. @_@
It would be pretty cool if it turned out the Innovators actually can shift their appearance as they desire.

Nanomachines my friend, nanomachines. It's part of being ready for space: retarded aging, improved reflexes and coordination, the ability to interface with computers, and the ability to give yourself a sex-change as and when needed
Transhumanism in action, my friends. Iain M. Banks' Culture novels feature people able to change sex as a built in part of their genetic engineering. I can imaigne Aeolia Schernberg* designing his Newtypes to be able to do this.

Probably the most surreal moment in the episode was the dance scene with fucking Ribbonz. Not only is Tieria being led around in a waltz while talking about serious stuff in his man-voice, fucking Ribbonz has the nerve to take Tieria into his love nest all Arless Loveless style which eventually causes Tieria to leap out of a fucking second story window. And then after they both get into their Gundams it's like business as usual like the last ten minutes didn't even happen.
Also the Ptolomey crew needs to figure out that Setsuna's unique ethnicity makes him the worst undercover chauffeur.
