Voyager, meet Axiom

Voyager, meet Axiom
A thread not intended of being a direct vs nor being taken too seriously.
Starting sometime after they aquired 7 of 9 on a fairly boring day, the lost starship Voyager get sucked through some spacial anomally thing and is spit out, to their suprise, somewhere near earth as the anomally disapeers with nary a trace. However, upon scans they find that Earth is a dead world covered in garbage and surrounded by Garbagey sattilites. They also detect that there is a nearby ship which they investigate, which is none other than the BnL executive Starliner Axiom.
What happens?

The Autopilot determines the crew of Voyager are a horrible example for the humans under it's care to follow, and sends them to hell with that uber plasma weaponry of theirs.
If I had something interesting, profound or incredibly stupid to say, it would go here.
Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
Is there anything to indicate that the Axiom mounts ship-to-ship weapons, period?Darth Onasi wrote:The Autopilot determines the crew of Voyager are a horrible example for the humans under it's care to follow, and sends them to hell with that uber plasma weaponry of theirs.
EVE's cannon is fiendishly powerful for a man-(okay, robot)-portable weapon, let alone for one mounted on what amounts to a botanical surveyor. However, I watched the movie yesterday and there's nothing I remember to suggest that the ship has external weapons.
Set one EVE unit or a robot with similar weaponry loose onboard Voyager, and it'll probably tear the ship to bits... but getting there could be a problem, unless the Autopilot tries to lure them into letting an "ambassador" aboard, or something similar.

Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
EVE units are quite capable of space flight as we see in the movie, they could just be deployed to attack Voyager from the outside, or try to blast their way inside.Venator wrote:Is there anything to indicate that the Axiom mounts ship-to-ship weapons, period?Darth Onasi wrote:The Autopilot determines the crew of Voyager are a horrible example for the humans under it's care to follow, and sends them to hell with that uber plasma weaponry of theirs.

Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
They'd have to force entry somehow; as pitiful as ST firepower is compared to a lot of other sci-fi universes, it's not like the EVE weapons are in the KT to MT range of Trek ordinance.
Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
Did't we rate Eve's firepower in the megaton range? She vaporized a 2 - 3 meter diameter sphere of rock, like it was nothing.
10 of those would not be good for Voyager to face in a fight.
However, odds are, this results in Voyager and the Axiom somehow cooking up a device that ends Voyager back to Earth with BnL tech, and the Axiom gets UFP tech.
Which means the UFP could conquer there galaxy with E.C.U's (Extra-Terrestial Combat Units).
Comedy Option: Wall-E determines that Voyager is junk, and attempts to stack it. When the crew tries to stop him, EVE still rips them apart.

Yeah, but there was a clean hole in the rock, nothing around it was even damaged.Solauren wrote:Did't we rate Eve's firepower in the megaton range? She vaporized a 2 - 3 meter diameter sphere of rock, like it was nothing.
Anyways, the Axion tries to put all of the Voyager's crew into some of those hover chairs.

Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
Regardless, given how small and maneuverable EVE units are, Voyager will never be able to hit them. They can take pot shots all day long and never lose a single probe. But I prefer the comedy options in this particular scenario.

Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
you know the problem here is basically this isn't interesting because Voyager isn't Interesting... Sure years ago I used to dream up things they could do, then I realized what titanic Putzes they are and stopped. Truthfully I could consider a couple of other set ups that would be far more interesting... or entertaining...
Lets say The Axiom meets:
An Imperial Scout Shuttle.
SG-1 on the Prometheus
or the Doctor and Tardis.
Personally I could see that last one as an actual Dr. Who epasode

WALL-E makes the Voyager computers sentient, since that's what he does anyway and ST computers are always just one sneeze away from deciding that they want to kill everybody. Hilarity ensues.

Wasn't that an implied future plot hook in the early seasons of Voyager, anyway?Mayabird wrote:Chakotay sheds a single tear.

I tend to think the Doctor would get along just fine with most of the Axiom robots. I mean, hell, they're practically cousins.

Series 3's The Ark is in a similar mold, but that was a group of humans leaving the dying earth for a new planet, and how their servant race uprose on them.Crossroads Inc. wrote:you know the problem here is basically this isn't interesting because Voyager isn't Interesting... Still, the Doctor has experience of the sort.

Doctor Who The Ark in Space is also similar, though it has different complications, it also features the idea that the Earth has become re-inhabitable.

Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
Considering Janeways "We must help even if it kills us" attitude and her sociopathic tendencies she would probably order to help the Axiom but the navigator would consider that as a threat. As we do not know what kind of ship armament the Axiom possesses, short of those sleek EVA drones, it's impossible to say how fast Voyager would turn in to scrap metal.
If there are Ship-to-Ship weapons and they scale up with size to little EVAs love tapper... than it might not take that long.
If there are no Ship-to-Ship weapons then Navigator might invite the crew of the Voyager to a nice shore leave, give them food, drink, promise to give them ressources for their eternal journey to Fed-Earth (not to be mistaken with FedEx though). But in the end, when our little redshirts are in the guest quartiers, an unfortunate failure of the life support or a rampant security droid will end their suffering.
Or Navigator will just play Truck Axiom vs. Fly Voyager.

Attacking them is one thing, but I doubt Auto's directives would allow him to calculate the deaths of humans, wherever they're from.

Which it is not the case here, but rather before WALL-E, it is just nearby Earth in space terms.Solauren wrote:By the time Axiom is at eath, Auto is offlineDarth Onasi wrote:Attacking them is one thing, but I doubt Auto's directives would allow him to calculate the deaths of humans, wherever they're from.

Re: Voyager, meet Axiom
Just so it's clear, the BNL short Axiom orientation on the DVD release of Wall-E states that the Axiom is in the Kuiper Belt, so it's still within our solar system and easily detectable by Voyager.

Yes, but then other shorts on the DVDs mention it being elsewhere (eg a 5-year cruise to the helix nebula IIRC). Not to mention the big purple cloud it's hiding behind when we first see it in the movie. Then there's the map showing the Axiom crossing half the galaxy...

Then in the Burn-E short we see a space rock that Wall-E moves from Neptune's ring fly past Mars then smack an exterior light on the Axiom, before the shuttle Wall-E's on arrives.
Clearly they didn't think this through too much.
