It says a lot about the state of freedom in America when we happily appoint people to offices with the title "Czar."

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Well, Nevada's had a "Porn Czar" for a while now, since before Bush IIRC.

Though I think that particular position has recently been cut.

Who needs consumer freedom when you can make the big corporations even bigger?

Did I violate any copyright laws, I think I accidenally typed the RIAA's motto.

It's not a real title you know. People just started calling the head of the DEA that a while back and its spread around to other positions.

Its good to see that Microsoft's assimilation of every aspect of life is proceeding unabated.

What kind of idiot would assign a Microsoft employee to this job?!? Microsoft has so many security bugs, and now they're supposed to be in charge of national security?

I bet there's going to be a surge in hacking incidents with this...

Microsoft's approach to security weaknesses is to try to cut them off at the desktop, by removing peoples' right to privacy (look at the steps they're already taking in that direction with DRM, forced XP registration, etc). In their minds, this will solve the problem of hackers because hackers will not be able to cover their tracks.

It also dovetails nicely with the current administration's attitude toward privacy rights. "Privacy? What's that? I think you've misunderestimated us". So I'm not surprised at all.
