Might I recommend Alizarin Schism.

Miratian GDP should be in the vicinity of $400 billion. I'd suggest the F-ing continent, simply because there's still a few spots that aren't in use (Ford Prefect's country).

Ryan, you'll have to pick up a delineated country that's been declared an NPC so far, though a few areas are IIRC unnamed or unclaimed. I believe there's a big country outlined in the Frequesuan interior, west of the CFR, that would've been Ford Prefect if he'd played. You could claim it, if the Frequesuan players don't quite mind that is.

Oh, dammit to hell. You just had to knock everything down a notch after I saw it higher. Now I have to rebuild my military. :P

On a coastline, if possible. Is there a consolidated map?

Numbers 11 is open (11, 12 and 6 are counted together, but I can't find that map), number 9 is an NPC that is falling on hard economic times, and it would make sense if you wanted to be an autocrat

I know the Caymans are unclaimed as is at least one or two of the nations at the tips of Shepland but all three of those countires come with the obvious hassle of having to conform your politics to the fact that you have huge over-bearing neighbors nearby with a vested interest in seeing things done their way.

Ah, I get the idea.

Well, I'll take #9, then.

Does somebody want to announce my rise to power and the creation of Miratia on their news network? I'll add some stuff tomorrow detailing the actual 'exchange' of power and my first actions as Leader, one of which will be the creation of a special committee to decide on an appropriate title for my new position of power.

#9 is the Autonomous Republic of South Frequesque. #10 is now controlled by me (in addition to my main holding in north Messamerica). The AFSR has recently been in a war with the former Duchy of Westchester AKA Imperial Colony of Tian Jiao. It's capital city is Livorno, located on the coast. It is a semi-socialist state (though if you want to play it, I'd suggest a revolution). It's navy currently consists of 5 FFG-7 class frigates. The vast majority of it's air force no longer exists. Ditto a good portion of it's army.

I would not suggest using it, simply because it has a history, and you'd have to play in accordance with that history. That history would severely restrict your capabilities well below what you could have.

Oh.

Anywhere else with a coastline, then? I don't want to be land-locked. Land-locked states can't have navies. Nations without navies have to rely on those who do to transport their things, and then theres a huge mark-up, of course...

I figured it might be, but given that the country's in tatters I doubt it would be from the perspective of anything that I have control over. :?

11 still gets you access to the largest navigable waterway in the world. International law prevents me from denying you passage along that waterway, so you could still be able to have cargo ships et al visit. Of course, naval ships aren't required to be given passage, but forgoing a large navy makes it easier to fund an air force and army, which are possibly more important when sharing a border with potentially hostile neighbors.

Alternatively, I suppose you could do a coup in 17 or 18. 2 is also a possible location.

Fingolfin, dude...how is the international pharma giant GSK a "smaller company"? And how can you bankrupt them without price dumping? :)

You won't make PolPharma bankrupt, since they will already sell their drugs at cost, and any losses will be eaten by the government.

2 big companies, well government funded vs 1 private company.

Well you know, that depends on how much losses your government wants to borne. (and mine as well)

I have to echo support for you taking #11. It would also let you wield major influence among the FTO when it comes to ongoing efforts to stabilize the CFR (#13). I would recommend, however, that in your internal map you make your northern borderlands sparsely populated and mostly forest and wilderness, since the zone on your north is primarily unclaimed wilderness with the exception of new enclaves made by various Frequesuan nations.

And having no Navy is an advantage since you can focus on your Air Force and Army.

Well, that settles it, then. #11 it is. I still have to fix my military, I'll get that over with now and post up some maps an what have you later today.

I know I'm launching mid-sized Delta's that should be able to put roughly 750-1500 kg into GTO so I'm rather assuming I'm not that much further ahead of everyone else.

Hmm.. I have a DSP-1 type probe to launch next year. If no one in FASTA has the rocket, I'll go to you? I need a Delta II rocket type for the probe.

Sure, right now the biggest launcher I've got is a 3923 which, based on launch history, should put roughly 1000kg into GTO. If its going to be next year as in mid-2012 or later I should have the Castor 4A ready which means I could launch a 6923 for a payload average of 1500kg into GTO. It wouldn't exactly be a Delta-II since I have the RS-27 but not the RS-27A main engine.

Roughly about late-2014 to mid-2015 I should have the GEM-40 ready and then I'd be looking at the 7924/7925 as my biggest launcher so we would be looking at roughly 2000kg to GTO.
