UNIT and SG-1

I've been wondering for a while, if Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and his UNIT contingent were attached to Stargate Command at the beginning of the 1st Season, how much of an effect would this have on the Team's performance?

They'd have a huge retirement fund? If you mean UNIT in general, they'd have relatively detailed information on various local alien species (not very relevant to the early years of SG1 given the gate network) and maybe some alien-specific weaponry.

I suppose they could share some whoverse tech either indigenous or alien they had. A disentegrator gun would be useful. Given that they never mass produced it even though it worked (and I can't believe they wouldn't make a back up of the design in case it got stolen, which it was), I can only imagine it wasn't economical to produce it on mass.

For an elite unit like SG-1, you would only need to build a few, while the rest can carry the usual weaponry.

They other thing is, will SG-1 get to look at various captured tech which has fallen into British hands which Torchwood hasn't appropriated. I can imagine various tech form the old series, eg Cybermen, the fake 747s used by the aliens in "The faceless ones" etc which SG-1 will try to reverse engineer.

Now if there is no tech sharing, I can only imagine the Brigadier's experience would be in which alien species he has encountered. Otherwise SG-1 seem quite capable of running their unit and I don't see the Brigadier adding too much more in this area.

I usually work on the idea of complete cross-integration of forces when attaching forces to each other, including tech sharing, as this enables the forces involved to be much more effective than their individual constituent parts.
