Given that he's a sociopath, he probably did it because he could.
He also might have thought that since he got away with murder, there's nothing he can't get away with. Yes, despite the numerous civil suits he lost and the fact that his name and any sort of career were destroyed. He's not only a sociopath, but a blithering idiot.
If I had something interesting, profound or incredibly stupid to say, it would go here.
OJ Simpson is an arrogant moron that made simple mistakes because it is in a sociopath's nature to think he/she can get away with anything after being let off the first time, hence why serial killers start making obvious blunders after their initial unpunished kills with induces a hubris. Why else do you think the unethical, greedy bankers kept on relentlessly hoarding up apocalyptic debt if they felt they could get away with it in the short term?

Note-- I am not complaining about that.
The jury didn't get to decide the sentence -- just guild or innocence. The sentence was the judge's ruling, if I understand the news right.
Yes, but remember sentencing guidelines - the judge may not even had a lot of leverage, in fact I doubt she had any due to the great and magnificent sentencing guidelines. Who ever thought Judges were not to be trusted with what they studied in law school? Oh, thats right, the GOP did.
Sentencing guidelines for his conviction were, according to the news, 6 years to life. With this his first conviction, he could reasonably expect it to be at the low end, so it will likely be reduced on appeal.
