[VOTE] FICTION forum Moderator
Here are the Candidates for Moderator positions for the FICTION FORUMS section of the board. You may vote for all of them to step up, or select specific individuals. This does not mean that forums will be left without Moderators-- this is to expand, not replace, current Moderators. So it is possible to vote for two people to Moderate one forum, but use your judgement and ask if a particular, less-active Forum needs so many Moderators.
FORUM-SPECIFIC MODSHIPS:
Fiction Forum Block:
Bounty (Western Europe: GMT+1)
Ender (US Central Time)
Pure Star Trek:
Gandalf (Eastern Australian Time: GMT +10)
DaveJB (England, GMT)
Pure Star Wars:
Desertfly (US Pacific Time)
Fantasy:
Big Steve (Eastern US)
Yosemite Bear (US Pacific Time)
Fanfics:
Duchess of Zeon (US Pacific Time)
Gaming & Computers:
DaveJB (England, GMT)
STGODs:
Rogue Ice (Eastern US)
Remember, also, that you can be voting for someone to hold a Moderator position in Fiction Forums, and other positions in NON-Fiction forums (a different vote thread) as well. It is possible to hold multiple Moderator positions in select forums.
And again, the Admins and Mike Wong have final say in all selections; popular support & choice will be one, but not necessarily THE, deciding factor.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

Is there any point in posting "voted"? Seems like a +1 post to me.

I would say it goes towards seeing what kind of participation this place is getting, since Coyote feels only about a dozen or so people have been doing the majority of the posting. And yes, it is a +1 post, but I hardly think 4 or 5 added to anyone's post count in order to help get more moderation is going to cause a system breakdown.

SPQSDN
EDIT: I admit, it probably isn't necessary, except to show participation obviously (hold hand, sing kum-by-yah) and to keep re-bumping the votes threads so they're visible and appear near the top o' the heap.
I started putting in my "Voted/SPQSDN" mostly out of Senate habits...

Re: [VOTE] FICTION forum Moderator
About the only way to really guess how many people have voted is to look at the person/people with the highest number of votes-- you know that at least that many people have stopped by. But, since there's no guarantee that even the most popular nominee got a nod from every voter that stopped by, it is at best a rough estimate...Destructionator XIII wrote:That is total votes, not number of people who voted. Any person can vote 0-10 times, so there is no way of knowing for sure how many actual people voted from that counter alone.Ace Pace wrote:Easy to find out how many people are in this. Okay, would someone please enlighten me as to why The Yosemite Bear is a good idea for a mod of anything? Something other than "he's been here for years"? The guy spams worse than DEATH, nigh-constant one-liners riddled with ellipses and obscure nonsense, (and if you look into his older posting history, there was significantly less of this meaning it's definitely gotten worse with no repercussions) and there's nothing, really, to imply he'd be a good moderator other than maybe porn links in the brotherhood.

The guy is slowly dying from heritable medical conditions because in America there is no socialized healthcare to provide his long-term medication, Rye. Not saying that makes him suitable to be a moderator, since of course it doesn't have any bearing on it as a simple fact, but it does explain why there's been no repercussions and why he is in the Senate.

That sucks balls, and I don't wish that on someone who is innocuous and harmless. I wouldn't wish it on DEATH either, nor would I wish for him to become a moderator, nor can I really see the connection between the two issues. Ah, you edited in as much.

Well, it's affecting his brain, that's the connection between his behaviour on the board and the condition. I wish I had the money already to pay for his meds, I'd seriously do it the moment I got an engineering job. We should start some kind of fund on the board or something.

A fund drive may, in fact, be a good and solid "social action" project for us to partake of.

So for lack of a fund drive we'll make him a moderator? Does he even want to be one? Is this just to make everyone feel better? Is it a farcical formality? The Duchess of Zeon wrote: Well, it's affecting his brain, that's the connection between his behaviour on the board and the condition. Uh, sorry for not being clear--I don't think YTB should be a mod. He's already been one, and was stripped of his modship for a reason; I feel bad for the guy and I hope someday that he gets the medication he needs to continue having a normal life, but, yeah. I just started this because Rye sounded like he thought YTB should be punished for his declining posting quality, and I wanted to explain why that hadn't happened.Stark wrote:So for lack of a fund drive we'll make him a moderator? Can we split this whole conversation off to a new thread, anyhow? It seems more suitable there.
