Then again he is a die hard fan of the (first) two Terminator movies and has actually instructed the cast to read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep so for all we know, he might actually be SRS BSNSS with this one.

He's trying to pull a Nolan and stuff, and while he might not have the experience (Charlie's Angels), he seems to have his heart on the right place. I mean, he lets his folks read Phillip K. Dick, so he's not a complete Phillistine.

He also respects T1 and T2 enough to use their Hunter Killers, rather than shit on them like T3.

Check this out. The guy was actually worried about "flogging a dead horse", namely overusing the Terminator franchise, so he set out to make something fresh and all that. Like I said, he's got good aspirations.

I never knew he was behind that show which, in the times I've caught it, has been really good. That, coupled with his respect of the proper Terminator films and source material and caution over this along with the mecha and scenery designer paying attention to Cameron's work, makes me feel this may be far better than I anticipated. Also, Chris Nolan's brother working the screenplay.

If there was one thing I hated about T3, it was the future scenes. Pew-pew lasers on CGI T-800s with AFTERBURNING aerial HKs that look like squashed bugs pissed me right off. The acceptance of T3 being a totally different timeline and being stated as such so clearly (along with also being distinct from T1 and T2, no doubt) is a good move too. Even casual fans should realise that this will likely not be the way the Future War unfolded as per the Kyle Reese timeline.

Cameron got it perfect in T1. The plasma weapons are firing slithers of fusing hydrogen at a good fraction of c. They will be bright, actinic thunderbolts sounding like a machine gun, not fucking blobs going walking speed with a Casio sound effect added.

And the Aerial HKs did NOT have ducted electric fans either, aside from other retarded elements.

The trailer looks good, but I think there's just so much in the air about the whole thing to really judge the movie. Huge honking robot it still a stretch though.

You sure? That was my first guess, but they (the mystery planes) kind of look clunkier than the A-10s. But if it's the A-10s, then cool! Nothing else can kill tanks or goddamn HKs than fucking A-10s!

I love the fact that they're using old fashioned technology and only sometimes resorting to Mad Max-style technicals.

Yeah, the concept art in the designer interview shows A-10s, so that's what they are. What I'm mostly intrigued by is the look of the sky, I guess after seeing what is now night-scenes for the first two films, I just didn't expect it to look so normal. Then again, even with nuclear winter and all, I guess there'd be some light coming through a thick cloud layer, if only to show different shades of grey rather than just black.

Yeah, and I guess that's what was the "normal day time" or something in those future scenes, but now it can just be seen as night-time operations or something. I mean, there are a lot of things in those segments that are a bit hokey and cliché nowadays, but were meant to show the dreary post-apocalyptic landscapes. At least for this one, the art director's studied wildlife reclaiming areas devastated by nuclear radiation etc.

In T1, Kyle mentions how they go out only in the night - since that's when the machines switch to infrared. It's even mentioned again in T:SCC, how going out in the daylight is considerably riskier than going out at night. The future war scenes in T1 and T2 were night operations.

If it was nuclear winter, Kyle Reese and co. would've been wearing parkas and stuff.

I've always had the impression that Skynet was certifiable by human standards (fair enough, its creators tried to murder it first thing), but a giant walker doesn't strike me as particularly Skynet; it's just a big robot. It doesn't smack of ridiculous waste of resources like the T-1000 or time machine did. Honestly, I don't see anything in this trailer to get excited over at all. John talking to a Terminator (?) as if it were Skynet, a few random shots of a minigun, Terminator motorcycles ( )...just a bunch of brief clips with nothing really coherent going on. After the license-wank shitfest that was T3 and the Beverly Hills Robot shit that I see T:SCC as, and considering the moron they have directing this, I'm not exactly hopeful.

Seriously, what was wrong with the high school stuff? We didn't get to see much of it. All we saw was some girl killing herself, and some weirdo blonde chick who John had the hots for - and she was pretty cool, she wasn't FAT FAT FAT like Riley nor was she a bitch.

And we had Morris. He was cool. Goddamn it, he should've gone to the prom with Cameron! Fucking Sarkissian.
