New Airstrike Plan in the works
Caught this a few hours back, In an effort to cut down on Civy caualites we are gonna be pulling another WWII Psy Ops trick of annocing when we are gonna be bombing ahead of time via air-droped pamplets and warning people to stay away from the targets if they want to live

I dont have a problem with it. They did something similar to the Iraqi soldiers too. They would drop leaflets telling the soliders to leave before the B-52's come to drop a load of death on them.
I think the US has to do everything possible to minimize civilian causulties if we want to maintain the idea this is a moral war.
I suppose it could backfire, and make the citizens angry, but Im just guessing.

It's a good ideia, at least the planners can claim they warned the population... Question is, will the Iraquis pay atention? Or it's going to be the oposite? Saddam orders the civillians into the traget area, and claims once more the Americans are muderers.

Probably. The regular troops are just conscripts who hate the regime as much as the rest of the general population. Do you think any of them are going to be willing to give up their lives for Saddam? That's another important reason why we have to make it clear this isn't a war against the Iraqi people--their soldiers will be less willing to fight if they know their enemy isn't trying to harm their homes or families. The Republican Guard is another matter, but that's what JDAMs are for.Exonerate wrote:I wonder if Iraqis will have that mass surrendering they had during the Gulf War...
Any city gets what it admires, will pay for, and, ultimately, deserves…We want and deserve tin-can architecture in a tinhorn culture. Exonerate, my deductive capabilities led me to believe that the presented voting bulletin is fake, probably done by the CIA to discredit the good regime of Iraq. The main reasoning behind my deduction is the fact that English, albeit the most international of the languages, is not seen in a favourable light on that zone of the globe.
Thus, it is highly unlikely that the aforementioned good regime of Iraq would have chosen it as the official language of the said bulletins.

While target in cities are going to be fixed, this would means where not going to be killing much in the way of officials either. Though I suspect our chances of actually finding and hitting anyone of value in Baghdad are slim, at least outside of a major bunker. And when you hit a bunker the damage is well contained within anyway.
