I've learned 90% of people who RP, don't. Nearly all of them are Eredaric vampiric draconic ancient demigod immortals who are Jaina's secret lover, Thrall's mother or Arthas' asshumper. They are the center of the universe, and there's hundreds of them. The few I have seen RP a character and not a Mary/Gary Sue are rare, even in heavy RP guilds.

And I come from one of the original RP servers that you can spot any RP by the fact does the person WALK or RUN to wherever.

Mount restriction lifted is for the ability of trying to get 100 of those worthless fucks. Hell, I sit on my feats of strength and act like an old fogey more then not.

My current laugh is how fucking insane the game economy is. The high end shit is being sold at absurd levels for no reason then it is assumed that the price should be that high. I've learned how to fuck Titansteel so badly that I have personally fluctuated the prices from 250 per bar to easily making it 1000 per bar, and still sell.

They are removing the racial limits on mounts? Well, I consider Tauren look horrible on anything but the Kodo, so won't matter to me.

As for the RPing Mary Sues, I don't mind people trying to make their character super-special as much as I mind those who do not bother to read the Lore and just assume any excuse will work, but then again, this is a typical failing of RP on any medium (like on PnP games).

My characters have all always been down-to-earth. The only time I've gone a bit overboard has been with my DK, whom I intended to be an original WC2 Death Knight (formerly a WC1 Necrolyte) who willingly fought for the Scourge, and whose only motivation is to get back at Arthas/Ner'Zul for his betrayal. Of course then I reviewed the Lore regarding the WC2 Death Knights, and the thing is becoming way too convoluted, so I'm considering dropping the background in favor of something a bit more simple.

Still, I love playing my warrior too much to switch mains. And I must be an odditty, because the aspects I like the most in the game are tanking and healing (or, in other words, the truly cooperative aspects).

Well Tauren doesn't look too bad on the UD mount (thank you Rivendare's Deathcharger for showing me what it was like before they changed it so you could buy normal UD mounts next patch), but yeah Kodo is pretty much the best for Tauren, since they look plain silly on a wolf and i'm not even mentioning how bad it is on the Chocobos.

And i absolutely love the game economy right now, if you're in the right position you can dominate it. Currently i've been absolutely herbing like crazy in Icecrown and Storm Peaks for Lichbloom, and due to the AH being empty I just jacked the price right up to 400g per stack. Funny thing is, people are actually paying that, and now the few other farmers are helping keep the price nice and high for all of us, boosting my gold back up to 15k (buying the mammoth and epic flying really wiped me out, i was down to 2 or 3k at one point). Another thing thats being price controlled is enchanting mats, which is the entire reason i just powerleveled enchanting on my mage (frost aoe spec + dungeons = win for enchanting) and i'm deing like crazy as i level. Here's a quick lookie at prices as of 4 hours ago:
Infinite Dust: 300g a stack
Abyss Crystal: 100g per Crystal
Greater Cosmic Essence: 90g per essence

Any price drop only lasts a short time before its jacked back up again, and an enchanter in the guild whose been asking people to pass blues and greens for him to level enchanting is now sitting on a pretty tidy gold sum with being able to disenchant vast amounts of greens and blues he gets (i think he's closing in on 30k as of today before the raid).

As someone with dual gathering professions, I personally have a rule that every flower I pick and every scrap of leather I skin while in an instance (since I almost never do pugs) goes directly into the guild bank, while solo gathering is my own to do with as I please. For now, this personal rule also goes for any Arctic Fur (instanced or otherwise) that I skin off of beasts, specifically because our guild leatherworker needs a lot of it and they auction for a lot of money. Basically I have a fast flyer (even gathered up enough to splurge on the expensive Armored Snowy Gryphon because I preferred its look over the Outland fast gryphons), and any gear upgrades I get at this point will probably be Heroic or 10-man drops (or new Badge gear they will release in later content patches), so the money I get from quest rewards and vendor trash is more than enough to tide me over money-wise.

I find money ridiculously easy to accrue in WotLK. For one thing, completing quest chains you neglected to do while leveling can easily reward you with more than a hundred gold, depending on the length of the chain; it's also possible to end up with another hundred gold just from vendoring the trash drops you'll be picking up and selling off the quest reward. To say nothing of the dailies -- a full circuit of Icecrown, Storm Peaks, and Grizzly Hills and the like will easily net me between 3-400 gold a day.

None of this, of course, counts money to be made from the auction house and gathering/crafting professions. I am a Blacksmith, so I do not typically make all that much money from my wares, but Moon Guard's economy is so broken that at one point I was able to corner the entire saronite market and set a standard price of two hundred gold for a stack of forty bars. The bubble burst pretty quick, but it's pretty ludicrous how much money some people will pay for convenient items. Since my saronite scheme has fizzled out, I'm just been sending my stacks of ore to a JC friend of mine to have prospected, and we split the gems that he pops out and split the resultant profits, which generally add up to another few hundred gold.

All of this combined, I'm pretty handily making a thousand gold a day.

So, in trade chat today, someone said 'Can someone tell me the story of Winter's Veil?' So, off the cuff, I composed an Alliance Christmas Story:
A Winter's Veil Story, by Angus (The Drunken Bastard) MacBeer, of Ner'Zhul.

T'was a cold winter's night, on the Eve Winter's Veil.
The Horde raided Ironforge, but were full of fail.
With I and my shanker, and Tanks buffed for Stam,
We headed them off inside the deeprun tram.
The 'Locks with their demons, and DK's with runes,
We ganked and we spanked scores of screaming Horde toons.

When up the Great Forge arose such a ruckus,
We hollered and shouted 'THEY'RE TRYING TO FUCK US!'
Up through the gnome quarter like bats out of hell,
We sprinted and shadow-danced, running pell-mell.

When we got to the forge, we stood there amazed!
There was Greatfather Winter (quite immune to daze).
His gear was all twinkish, he was dressed in T7.
His elves looked like hookers, straight down from heaven.

His eyes cold and flinty, his smile was contagious.
His stats were all sky-high, his buffs were outrageous!
With a crack of his knuckles and the dance in his boots,
We knew he was about to drop some WAY epic lootz.

He smiled as he opened his Sack Gigantique,
And he showered us all with new gear PVP;
Pummelers and shankers, and cloth sets a-plenty.
Plate Mail and trinkets for crit- I got twenty!
We laughed and we danced in the glow of the forge,
Even Death Knights from Eastern Plague Lands weren't ignored.
Shiny new runes for them; Unholy, blood, frost, and Death.
The warlocks got new ways to CC the best!

We were so overjoyed, we almost forgot,
The Horde was right behind us, but the Horde had not.
They grumbled and sighed, some orcs shouted 'KEK'.
It was clear that they, too, were here for the epic loot get.

Greatfather winter turned to them, and held up his hand.
He smiled and his great voice boomed all through the land;
"I'm sick of Horde gankers, and wankers, and twinks!
Campers and n00bs, who cares what you think?!"

"You'll get nothing and like it!" He said quite abrupt.
Then the alliance as one shouted 'HORDE STFU!"
Greatfather Winter then spun 'round with a flash,
And was gone leaving the horde smoking piles of ash.
All that was left of him was a whirl of white snow,
And the Angellic hookers and mountains of blow.

The party went for hours, to the first crack of dawn,
We rang BG's and arenas, like a party of LAN.
I grew weary of bloodshed, and bones on the floor,
So I walked over the bridge, to Ironforge's Great Door.
The sky brightened pinkish, the great day finally came.
And Greatfather Winter had proved he sure wasn't lame.

I heard his voice echo over the snowy Dun Morogh hills.
'Happy Winter's Veil All, and to all Honor Kills.”
Happy Holidays :D

And I got sucked back in by my friends. Apparently Shadow Priests got gimped, so rather go back to that guy I started an Orc Shaman on Thrall. Started Sunday, already 26, hope to hit 27 tonight. Once I do I can use Corpsemaker, and grind to 30 in a few heartbeats. At which point I will become a living blender.

I have made an arrangement with the scribe in my guild.

My self-appointed quest is to scour Icecrown and Storm Peaks, and strip them both of what little foliage they have left. Every flower and every Crystallized Life I loot during this masochistic crusade goes directly to him. And in return he uses those materials to create Darkmoon Cards until I can get this.

And then I will use it to destroy everything in my path.

? Are you asking the spec or did you misread the weapon? I'm an enhancement shaman, so once I hit 30 I'll have the windfury totem to speed up my strikes, with full points in thundering strikes and flurry. Combine that with this axe and my other decent gear and the bonus from Strength of Earth Totem and I'll be set until the mid 40s at least. I'll be chain critting with massive damage.

This is what I plan for my eventual build if I take this guy to 80, I might just take him to 55 and Death Knight the rest. Our group needs an AoE person, so either will work.

So, when are they releasing the Darkmoon Set: Awesomeness?

And, by the way, there's been some whinning about the new Arena season, the lackluster new gear, and the changes in how the gear is obtained. I'm personally sad because Season 3 gear didn't go to honor, and was removed, I really was looking forward to wearing it as soon as I hit 70, but well, I'm not too much into the whole Arena thingie.

Thoughts?

I've never bothered with arena.

I'm still wearing my old Gladiator set. That's just plain old gladiator, you can't even get it anymore. It took me all the way to level 80. I am thinking about upgrading, but clearly it's not a screaming priority with me or I would have done it already.

Then again, I'm considered a casual player and at times somewhat clueless (see my mis-reading of Ender's sword up thread - oops)

Meh Shadow priests aren't too bad right now, with good gear and a good rotation a spriest can be right at the top of damage meters (well they were, but i've been messing around on the PTR and mages and warlocks are getting some big buffs). Plus Spriest AoE is off the charts right now, i've seen the guild spriest doing 8.9k DPS on aoe groups.

That being said, enhancement shaman is (or was haven't leveled one since the change) a very fun class to level, I got mine to level 60 using recruit a friend before WOTLK came out and it was just a machine. Once you've got windfury and some nice slow weapons you can walk around merrily one shotting clothies.

Shadow priests have endless mana bars, multiple mana-recovery cooldowns, and are absolute grinding machines, so I don't know who told you they were gimped. Oh, and they now have AoE as well, so they don't even have that deficiency. Whoever told you they were gimped is probably the same person who thinks that DK tanks are terrible, hunters are balanced, and all such assorted nonsense. Tried out Arena, and it is hilarious. Damage is wild, so few have any decent PvP gear other then PvE(Given the scattered pieces of Deadly and what not) and some classes just pour it out more then others. Mages are the only magic class that have been holding up well, but that will likely change. Still it is weird that melee rules the PvP aspect massively so, even with the changes to how pushback is done.

As for which classes are supreme for PvE Damage?

It's basically:

Hunters, Rogues(certain specs are clearly better then others), Warriors=Mages=Death Knights, Druid, Priest, Warlock, Shaman~Paladin. The nerfs to the Retadin is fucking ugly, and judgements are bugged which rapes them more. There's some variance but against Patchwerk this has been holding pretty well.

I've found being a boomkin pretty fun, I mean my gear isn't even half decent and i'm able to walk around pumping out 10k crits with starfire and spamming out 4-5k wraths. Teamed with an arcane mage we pretty much can one shot most opposing teams. Admittedly thats in pve gear against pve geared opponents for the most part, but I really don't buy into this whole 'resilience will sort it out' thing, since to even get capped resilience you need 1250 (approx), and thats not obtainable by any means at all until Season 6.
And melee have always scaled more with weapons, and when a decent raider can be going around sporting 200 DPS weapons, they're pretty much doing well. What I don't like is that I can't be a healing spec as you're so gibbable its pointless. If you check the top rated warriors you can even see the lack of healers reflected in spec change since very very few are even opting for MS anymore.

Nevertheless, Enhancement Shaman are a LOT of fun since WOTLK. Maelstrom Weapon is the best talent ever.

Oh, and your proposed level 80 build is terrible :)

This would be a normal PvE build, though you need a marksman hunter to provide the 10% AP buff. If you don't have one leave out Static Shock and Improved Shields and take Unleashed Rage.

Whatever you do, you really want to take Elemental Fury in the Elemental Tree - a large part of your damage is casts (Shocks, Lava Lash, and instant Lightning Bolts) - increasing their crit damage is very important.

And I can only repeat: Enhancement Shamans are a real blast to play. You can do most group quests (yes, including 5-mans) in WOTLK solo. Summon your wolves, use their taunt, when you take damage instant heal yourself, wolves taunt again, when you take a lot of damage and don't have an instant cast ready, throw up Shamanistic Rage, put down the Earth Elemental, and so on - you can take down mobs with 200k health without too much trouble.

Oh and yes, Shadow Priests pump out massive damage - they are not in any way underpowered.

Since far and away most of my damage comes from melee, and I have a very limited mana pool, why on Azeroth would I want to throw that towards spells I rarely use instead of healing me so I can keep beating things over the head? I think I'll stick with enh/resto

Holy is for guilds or if you really dig healing. Smite builds are meh.

Discpline is another facet of DPSing but without the soloing. Decent for PvP.

Shadow is for soloing and DPSing(finally) in groups.

At this point, stick with a leveling build that you enjoy unless your guild is willing to drive you through dungeons and quests. The game has always been what is at the highest levels and that is where group specs matter.

Level 80. You are more than adequately prepared to heal 5 man dungeons from level 10 to around 80ish spec'd as shadow as long as you make this clear to people (naturally you won't be doing it in Shadow Form) to not do stupid shit.

There really is no point in going holy before then. It's not as if you need to collect a different set of gear (or anything with a huge difference) between the two specs (unlike a Retadin to a Healadin for example), so melt faces until 80, respec and run Nexus and UKeep a few times in HC to get a feel of the play stile first before branching out to harder Heroics.

Although, to be fair, my impressions of Heroics in WotLK is that it's more of a DPS race/gear check than a healing one like some of TBC Heroics were.

Nope. Enh/Resto got nerf'd in 3.0 when the did away with the sexy +hit in resto. Enh/Ele is the way to go now, although not sure if I'd go that far into Elemental to be honest. And you're wrong about one thing; that while yes most of your damage is melee ... it should not be confused with WHITE damage, your auto attacks are pathentic and unless some other things changed in 3.0, a Flame Shock/Earth Shock rotation provided better DPS than auto attack (which is why you should go into Elemental now).

Started Sunday, already 26, hope to hit 27 tonight. Once I do I can use Corpsemaker, and grind to 30 in a few heartbeats. At which point I will become a living blender.
First of all; you picked the best Horde race for any spec of shammy (although Trolls do give a good race for your money with Berserk). Blood Fury is so unbelievable all other Shammies will hate you. Unfortunately Blizzard hates Orcs, so you'll be leveling with Maces/Fist Weapons through TBC/WotLK and not the oh so sexy Axes - oh the shame.

Meanwhile, since Blizzard have flat out broken my main, I'm leveling my Pally with this got him to 71 today. Can't wait until 80 - although to be clear; while I might 'dabble' in some Ret fun in PvP with him, this guy is not a FotM re-roll. My Warlock is a JC/Enchanter - which is to say broke, and I need this guy leveled so he can go out and mine for me. I'm going to spec him Healadin at 80 and use him to farm more Emblems! <3
