Land of the Lost Movie

Post by Johonebesus »

Universal is making a Land of the Lost movie. It stars Will Ferrell. I suppose, given the kitsch of the series, playing the story completely straight might be difficult, but all Ferrell seems to be capable of is idiotic grade-school level farce.

At least the Sleestacks look neat.

I wonder if it would be possible to create a serious version. There is a lot of potential with the Sleestacks' history. I read an article by one of the original writers who said that their backstory was that the Land was originally a pocket dimension created as a sort of holiday resort by a highly advanced civilization (Enik's people) that could travel through different universes as well as through time.

I think there's a lot of potential for a series movie or an updated series.

The 70s version of the show had all kinds of stuff that could be useful in a bizarre sci-fi show.

The Sleastacks, the old city, the pylons, the dinosaurs, the mutant dinosaurs (torchy), the space man and the mechanical dinosaur.

I'm still curious about the Will Farrell version. I've gotten very sick of his sports/70s schtick so how his version of LotL works depends on how-over-the-top he is.

could be interesting.

Will Ferral can play other roles than the stuff he's been doing lately (see - Stranger than Fiction), and LotL could use a good update...
