Need help with the Hitler/Christian issue
I remember reading Mike's and other's posts about Hilter stating in Mein Kampf that he was a Christian, and that arguement came up in Yahell Chat today while I was in it. I was wondering if anyone could refresh my memory as to the quote/s associated with it.
"And as I promised, I said I would read from the bible..." "...And if we could turn our bible to Pslams..."Happy shall he be that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones." (Pslams 137:9) So let me ask you a question? Who is the worst influence, God or Marilyn Manson?" "God!" "And if that's not the best fucking example, God HIMSELF killed his own MOTHER FUCKING SON!"-Marilyn Manson

Thanks guys, you've been a big help in directing me to the write places. Mike, you're page in particular has all that anyone needs. The idiot that I was debating with tried to tell me that he has read the book, is reading it again, and is a History teacher, so he should know better.
I told him that hiding behind his degree is a logical fallacy, and doesn't make him an expert in a debate.

It was happening in Yahell chat in the Atheist vs Christians room that I entered one day to see what kind of shit was boiling in the kettle of lies.
Hopefully the guy will resurface tonight, as I didn't get a chance to finish it before he left. And now that I'm armed with the quotes thanks to Mike and you guys, he's going to get the Smackdown laid all over his candy ass.

Hitler is very confusing on religion. He said in 1941 to General Engel that he was still a Catholic, yet a Nuremberg in 1935 he said "Christianity succeeded for a time in uniting the old Teutonic tribes, but the Reformation destroyed this unity. Germany is now a united nation. National Socialism has succeeded where Christianity failed...We do not want any other God than Germany itself."
At best, Hitler was a heretic. His close comrades (in particular Martin Bormann, his secretary, and Hermann Rauschning, an associate) made comments denegrating the role of Christianity. Bormann said that National Socialism and Christianity were irreconciliable, and Rauschning that a person cannot be both German and Christian. Nazism was the official state religion, and the Bible was replaced with Mein Kampf in schools. And yet he fought against secular schools and wrote that he considered himself "an agent of our Creator."
If I had to pin Hitler down as anything, it would be either a theist or a Christian heretic. He was not in the mainstream thought of Christianity any more than Osama bin Laden is a mainstream Muslim. His views on religion were inherently self-contradictory and show a lack of philosophical intelligence on the part of Hitler. He may have been able to inspire people and rule a short-lived empire, but his lack of intelligence is clearly visible in hindsight, merely by examining how contradictory his views were.

Why isn’t that ever an issue of politics? Because you don’t live in a democracy. You live in a plutocracy. Money rules.

I'd agree he's a deist - he continually imagines himself as a paladin saving the aryans with god's support - but I am unsure of the christ connection.

The truth is more simple: He was a politcal liar. He lied to use everyone, so he used the christians of germany as well (Their fault to believe in his lies, religious bigotony to blame here, they loved to hear the jew burning down). He probally had no real religious system in his mind to follow, that is way he seems to have a mix or generic things like deism (yes, he is heretic also), he used the face that he needed too...
he would probally be a Alien the build piramids in the Egypt if there was enough of those UFO hunters with power in germany back then...

Those two sources are widely discredited bullshit artists, whose hearsay quotes of Hitler are considered pure nonsense. Rauschning is not even known to have been anywhere near Hitler from any sources other than himself, and Bormann was just a fucking secretary. The men at the top of his organizational structure were all Christians. The Dark wrote:At best, Hitler was a heretic. Thank you for proving the point I make on the page that you obviously ignored. Every person who tries to claim that Hitler is not a Christian relies on just two discredited sources: Bormann and Rauschning. Even the infamous OSS documents ignored Rauschning as an obvious fraud.Bormann said that National Socialism and Christianity were irreconciliable, and Rauschning that a person cannot be both German and Christian. Nazism was the official state religion, and the Bible was replaced with Mein Kampf in schools. Christians have a long history of killing one another; he was hardly the first to do so. It doesn't change the fact that he was a Christian.HemlockGrey wrote:Of course, torching Catholics probably won't win him points in whatever afterlife there is...
