Were you ever able to beat sullust without the infinite lives cheat? 'cause I still can't do it.

It's just about possible to do it without getting medals - but you need to survive the first guided missile barrage and have at least one spare Y-Wing for when you inevitably crash into the evil floating merry-go-round.

At least Sullust was just hard because you kept dying. Fest, now that one was evil... it's not that hard a mission once you actually figure out what you're supposed to do and in what precise order at which specific time, but until then, it's controller-hurling central.

immediately boost taking down the two nearest gun turrets, ignore the gate, drop the first AT-AT, rush for the second while taking out the gun turrets on either side of the shield generator, rush for the third while shooting the final turret on the ridge, rush back to take down the tank droids, then, turning at maximum speed................

I never found Sullest to be PTSD inducing, the World Devestors- those were a bitch.

I just remembered Timesplitters. I only played Futureperfect, but I did see the previous games played and was impressed by their humor, variety and graphics.

The world devastators were easy if you took out the first/second one(s) fast, thus saving you the headache of the chain events occuring too fast. And the water was annoying, but V-Wing missile spam while broken was awesome (At killing those motherfucking special TIEs) and the chain laser was good at trashing the legs fast.
Hoth was another icky one, fucking AT-AT's! It took me so many times to get that level...

My laptop's been broken for a week or two and I just realized something amazing, the old comp I've been using still has Rogue Squadron installed .

Stop reminding me. Man I loved being able to deploy my OWN UAVs. Heavy Gear 2 came close in a lot of ways but it was halfway between power armor and big-stompy-robot (~3-5 meter tall machines), and it didn't have the same level of information gathering and management you had (no UAVs or battlemap).

I'm going to second Syndicate/Syndicate Wars, as although their UI and near-nonexistent agent AI (requiring constant management) annoy they are still ridiculously fun.

Moff Seerdon's Revenge. Now that was a hard one, not for being really tough but man, you had to destroy every god-damn building, fighter, and turret without letting any of the bacta tanks get hit, and only then would the ending sequence trigger. And then there was always that TIE interceptor that would randomly spawn and fire a barrage of laserfire so intense and accurate it'd burn out your shields faster than you could say "I can't shake him!" But I played that game right to the very end. I totally loved it and always will, and making the Death Star Trench Run and the Battle of Hoth was pure awesome.

I'm going to nominate Commander Keen as one of my all-time favourites. I still play it today and it's still just as fun now as it was when I was little. When I was a kid, sometimes I would dress up as Billy Blaze, with a helmet and jeans and a pop gun, and then go play the game. Good times, good times.

Which Keen game? There's everything from Keen 3 to Keen dreams ;). (And the goddamn cliffhanger of "Aliens stole my babysitter"!).

Heroes of Might and Magic - The series probably peeked at number 3, but any of them have great playability by today's standards. Hell, King's Bounty (the forerunner to HoMM) has great playability by today's standards.

Worms - Once again, the series was great but the original was the best. I mean, sheep... what a great weapon. :D

Pirates! - I only ever played to original on my Amiga 500, but it kept me amused (and not doing homework) for months. Fantastic.

The Metroid series (abiet that's still on-going).

L.O.R.D (Legend of the Red Dragon) - Online BBS game, but damn it it was good. It's probably the most common only online game that saw people downloading it and registering it to play it at home.

I really should get around to setting up a Telnet BBS and putting that up.
I've been asked why I still follow a few of the people I know on Facebook with 'interesting political habits and view points'.

It's so when they comment on or approve of something, I know what pages to block/what not to vote for.

Planescape: Torment. One of the most compelling plots I've seen in any medium, and the game has a fair amount of replayability.
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know...tomorrow."

Pirates: swashbuckling goodness, the fencing, the looting, etc.
Doom1/2: for the reasons mentioned above
Tie fighter: more fun good interface, and damn more fun.
Sam & Max, Tentecle, Grim Fandango etc. : back in the day puzzler adventures were puzzler adventures. Snif-
Civ 1/2 damn it, at the best,
Dungeon Keeper 1/2: fuuuuuuun, slap, slap, slappitty, slap
X-Com 1/2: still fun after all these years
Tetris: I play it on my cell phone, to this day.
Bard's Tale: sure crappy graphics, but still fun to play around with, and making character's into gods...
Scorched Earth: for the same reason's mentioned before
Dune2: the first RTS

I was never able to get through Sullust without cheating for the 64 version, but I haven't touched that in years. I was able to manage it for the PC version, though. The key is to go low and hope the missiles overshoot, or to go so high that the missile launchers ignore you.
