I used to play 3e, but I gave up on it. It just didn't have the same feel as the old stuff. I still have 2e books, and my neighbor across the street has the 1e books from '79. Back when Assassin wasn't a prestige class and Rangers started with 2d8 hit dice...

Oh, come off it. THAC0 was annoying as hell and eventually 2e games just became a matter of the wizard doing everything. The new 3e d20 system is far more streamlined, simpler, and funner.

I play 3e and have come to see the logic of both the simplified to-hit and the fact that characters other than spellcasters now have a purpose past level 12.

3e is divinely inspired. It's is balanced (moreso than 2e, at last). It has far more options than 2e or 1e. Modifications are easier, and they are more portable.

It's like a computer programmer was assigned to create an RPG system.

I dunno, I kinda miss weapon speeds and strength requirements from 2nd Ed...

*Hopes nobody remembers I've only played the D20 engines on the Infinity & Aroura PC engines...*

That, and class kits added some more variety to the game.

*Damn, blew it...*

Class kits? Pshaw! With the uberness of feats and improved skills, you don't need kits. Plus there's always prestige classes...

I dunno, Feats and Skills just don't add the same kind of variety I need.

And Abilities only giving +1 to rolls per two points? Would it have killed them to scale the DCs to allow odd-numbered Ability scores? There's no point to creating a character with 15 Strength instead of 14, using this method.

I could just sum it up with "now the D6 engine, on the other hand...", but oh well.

Bah...Silhouette does away with stupid stuff like that. It's a zero-base rather than a 10-base. Imagine stripping away the ability scores and just having the modifiers on your sheet...that's how Sil deals with ability scores.

I've played 2nd edition D&D long ago, and I've been considering to try out 3rd edition.
