Favorite Season of Stargate Atlantis (Spoilers)
Well, with last night's airing of the controversial "Enemy at the Gate", Stargate: Atlantis has completed its five-year run. Of it's five television seasons, which would would you consider your favorite?
***
My personal favorite is Season Two (if for no other reason than it gave us the Daedalus ), with my least favorite being Season Three (I've said if before and I'll say it again: F*** the Asurans ).

Re: Favorite Season of Stargate Atlantis (Spoilers)
I can't really vote, its a tie for me between seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 had its moments but started to build dangerous momentum with certain habits. Season 4 was mostly just 'so-so', a couple good episodes and a lot of 'okay' episodes. Season 5 was crap.
Re: Favorite Season of Stargate Atlantis (Spoilers)
Well, I liked the Asurans. They were the threat that the Wraith weren't. By the time of Season 3, I knew we were stuck with Ronan, so oh well. It's a tough call, because I really enjoyed certain episodes of every season, while each season also brought disappointment. However, upon reflection, I went with Season 3. The beginning of Season 4 and the Asuran stuff wasn't bad either, but I despise Michael, which was most of the rest of the season. The final season has, for the most part, been meh or lower, with episodes like "Daedalus Variations" and....the first part of the Asgard episode (not the second part), topping the list.
It's Jodan, not Jordan. If you can't quote it right, I will mock you.

Season 3 for me. The Asurans were a nice addition, and I loved McKay and Mrs. Miller.

I voted for season one. Back then, the Wraith were still a threat. To quote Doctor Who, you can always judge a man by the quality of his enemies. As the wraith became less threatening, to my mind, the series became less compelling.
Season 3, and bits of season 4, with the Asurans, were also good. But the Asuran arc was wrapped up in such an unsatisfactory way, it irritates me.

Voted Season 1. Everything leading up to Siege Pt II was freaking awesome but the cliffhangers at the end of that episode were just so dire and extreme that everything after that just seemed cheap copouts to get them out of the corners that they'd be written into.
Plus I've never been very impressed with the way they changed the main cast every single freaking season after that.
Not to say that season 1 was perfect; there is a slight Voyager syndrome in parts: The Genii steal all their C4 and medicine in the mid season two parter and this is never referenced again nor are they portrayed to be lacking C4 and medicine but little things like actual disagreements between members of the team on occasion and the team doing some rather amoral things to survive. Rather balances it out.

Season 1 without a doubt.
Just like many of the decent shows it starts out rather well but on shaky ground. Standard Sci-Fi plots which I can give slack due to them needing to find their feet but even more impressive that they managed to create a really well thoughout plot progression along the way.
It started with them making a mistake and then followed with a constant 'looming threat' of the Wraith coming and needing to prepare for it. Pretty much like 'Q,Who' did for the Borg until the showdown in BOBW or the Shadows in B5.
That lead to the one of the better Sci-Fi battles I have seen with the Siege of Atlantis but sadly, I think they kinda fucked themselves by setting the bar of quality so high for future seasons.
Just like the Borg, the Wraith got mauled for every plot that required them too and just continued to make them look worse while making Atlantis slip into standard filler crap with no real direction other than to drag out a season.

Re: Favorite Season of Stargate Atlantis (Spoilers)
I've rewatched season 1 recently, I don't know if it's just rose tinted glasses or not but it has just has much filler and as many weak stories as any other season.
There isn't really any season for me that shines as being better much better than the others, season 3 is my least favourite and the opening of season 2 is my favourite run of episodes for the show. Of all the filler in Season 5, it still has some of the most compelling bottle episodes of the show for me.

Frankly I thought the whole run was a stinker. However stink was freshest in S1.

Re: Favorite Season of Stargate Atlantis (Spoilers)
Though I liked bits and pieces of the other Seasons as well, I felt the strongest episodes of the show were "The Storm" and "The Siege" multi-parters, so I have to go with Season 1.
