Think in the first chapter that Rico commented that they were doing a pretty good job because most of the Skinny city was burning (which being an actual city) and note that in their group they went in with 50 soldiers total. This was a light raid designed to smack the Skinny's on the nose and let them know that Earth meant business even if they refrained from having a Navy fleet bombard them.

Dark Troopers simply might not have the range or firepower to fight MIs. Actual StarWars armor, on the other hand, would be a much better fight.

If I remember right the reason for the attack was to show the Skinnys what they could do as an enticement for them to switch sides. Which I believe they did later in the book.

Yeah, it was. The Rico casually describes the Roughnecks doing serious damage to the Skinny city kind of comes across as the equivalent of joyriding through a neighborhood smashing windows and writing threatening graffiti on houses.

I seem to recall an earlier discussion deciding it was even heavier. It looks about as massive on the pictures.
Bilbo wrote:Not really. It was mentioned earlier that they were lightsaber resistant becuase of the special phrick (or whatever its called) alloy they are made from that is specially designed to resist sabers. Considering how rare Jedi are this is a rather expensive armor upgrade.
Phrik is not "specially designed" to resist lightsabres. In the old Essential Guide to Droids, lightsabres are not mentioned, merely that it is super-durable; in the NEGtD, lightsabres are given as an example of what they can take.

Again, what sort of sensor devices do the Mobile Infantry have?

We know from Vision of the Future that it is possible to equip stormtrooper helmets with sensors capable of discerning concealed individuals in a interference heavy environment like Myrkr.
Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

Reasonably good ones, at least visually. Their suits let them fight effectively over dozens of kilometers.

Hrm, barrel volume is a good baseline for estimating weapon strength relative to reach other, but comparing the Darktrooper weapon to the E-web is a bit off because the latter is designed for an extremely high rate of fire. Comparing it to the the Clonetrooper rifle instead might be better. Anyone have some good shots of the Darktrooper weapon to measure?

I think there were some in an old Tales comic, though that was a Phase II DT; I can check, but not scan anything from here.
