Decius laughed. "Indeed it is over." Decius gestured towards his aide and linked through cybernetic connections. "Pretentious xeno scum. They expel humans from their worlds and just snatch it from them. They then go on and say that 'we have not enjoyed the luxuries of long peace and rich worlds'. Hypocrites. They do not wish to enjoy such luxuries. They live at the expense of others. Only the blind fool would be so blind to believe their fine words. Perhaps his majesty is right. They must be dealt with. One does not need to be reminded of the Old Earth warlord Attiya the Hunn to recall what trouble vagabonds such as themselves would bring."

The drone was mulling over yet another message and its source that it had received, this one of far more import than the earlier mere greetings, when the Ouster bondsman approached it. Upon being addressed, it turned its flat-gray head to face the speaker, consciously making eye contact: biologicals often considered it significant to be seen when speaking. With a half-heartbeat to process and think on the message, the diplomat drone plied its trade, opening up with an apparently positive tone.

"Hello, Bondsman Sanje su Akarta. For simplicity's sake, you may refer to me as Alpha, or if you prefer, a term of your own choosing. I speak for the Network," it gestured with one hand to its Yuli comrade, engaged elsewhere, "as does my companion, Ambassador Vel. What is it that you would like to discuss?"

Kasan nods "It would be a pleasure to make her acquaintance." she says, curious as to what may come of this for the two realms she starts making her way in the general direction of Ambassador Nehele. Kasan talking to Sha-Nesa in Chamaran briefly as she slips away, the Sha rolling a crystal studded ball onto her palm and using that to send a message to Ehan Turanat and inform him that Kasan would like to talk to him later. The felines can use psionics it just takes the necessary amps to make it work.

"A simple matter, Bondthing Alpha, of the safety of our mutual borders. Your access to the Southern Rim, and ours, lies through the same system. I would like to present an offer of equitable sharing."

"We would desire control of the Western and Southern transit points in the system; to you we offer the Northern and Eastern. The center of the system to be divided up equally; Our only indisputable need is control of the Oort cloud of comets."

The diplomat and Network weighed the factors in play carefully, searching for dangers and disadvantages in whatever course of action that might taken. Considering the processing power the diplomat had access to, even this far from the Network at large, it took very little time for the drone to respond.

"The Network is aware of your desire to safeguard your expansion, but I note that your access to the southern rim, according to our mapping, exists also through another system bordering your nation. Therefore, this arrangement will not be satisfactory. The Network offers a comprimise: it will control and have jurisdiction over the system and its transit points at large, but will allow for access to the Oort cloud and comets, to be revoked upon aggressive military action or apparent aggressive buildup against the Network. No military presence, even transient, will be tolerated in the system. A reduced taxation will be imposed, in the interest of diplomacy. Understand that while the Network desires cooperation where possible, its access to the southern rim must be carefully considered."

The man in grey was entirely too professional to look after the dispersing ambassadors as the confrontation unraveled, but he mentally kept tabs on them as well as possible without drawing attention. Once they were safely beyond reach, he moved in, ostensibly to remove a half-empty glass of an unidentified smoking liquid. As he carries it away, he passes near the Llaelar ambassador. Slowing his pace for a few moments, he murmurs softly, barely audible, "We should speak. Later."

The drone nodded its assent, a superfluous gesture by Network standards but considered appropriate when dealing with biologicals, "This will be an acceptable arrangement. The Network at large will be made aware of our agreement today."

"Your Excellency. I'm delighted to meet you at last." Stated Countess Nehele, smiling as the Chamaran ambassador approached. "I have in mind a friendship program between our nations, to consist of cultural exchanges and, in both our navies agree, joint maneuvers to foster a spirit of brotherhood and peace. In these troubled times we live in, there is no treasure more precious than a solid friend to stand by one's side, and the Queen and the Regent would be honored if the Chamarans would be ours."

Meanwhile
The High Priestess of the Unity Hourglass, Ardelia Nehele, was also the Star Kingdom's spymaster aboard the station. This had instilled in her a degree of paranoia most people, even most intelligence personnel, would consider insane. Since that same paranoia had saved her life on more than one occasion, Ardelia was inclined to smile indulgently at the naivety of those who thought such things.

Right now, that sixth sense was informing her that the gray-clothed man slowly clearing a table not far from where the Ousters and her sister had been talking was more than he seemed. For one thing, he was not wearing servants clothing, but was nonetheless performing a servant's duties. She approached carefully, not giving any hints that she suspected a thing.

"Excuse me, but that glass is mine. I'm afraid I left it here and forgot about it." She said graciously, indicating one of the cups the man was putting lethargically on a tray. "Why are you clearing places? You look much too important to be a servant."

The grey man inclines his head at the robed figure, allowing a wry smile to trace across his face for a few seconds. His own briefing was quite exhaustive, and an assignment such as this is hardly a deep cover, far from it. Instead, it's more of a...quite, hanging back-channel, and as such he replies, "Touche, Madame Nehele. Might I ask what strikes you as...'too important' about me, if you'd be so kind?" His use of the spymistress's name serves as an acknowledgment of at least a near miss on the priestess's suspicions, and one freely given at that. He continues, an amused tone entering his voice, "It wouldn't do for one such as myself to be...too ostentatious, after all. Or...is that 'one like us?'"

After a short pause he broadens his smile, "Or am I wrong as to why you're watching the representatives here so closely?"

Kasan-ono ear perks, though surprised at such an offer of a sudden. But still they may not truly be that unalike, she's silent and considering for a moment “Indeed no treasure greater than a friend. We are warmed greatly by the offer. Let us pledge to an exchange of persons then in the spirit of greater understanding. It will take some time for the council to arrange things for this I'm sure you'll appreciate.” she ear twitches in amusement “I honestly cannot say however whether they will agree to joint manouvers least as of yet, and if we did there's the small issue it would be liable to cause issues for Laeller as they sit between us and have only a weak fleet. Regardless i will pass on the breadth of your proposals to the queen and council for consideration.”

The ambassador of the Mahou Kikai had sent him summons and he took note. Curious to see what the AI wished to discuss, Decius instructed his aides to notify the other ambassadors that he would be with them shortly.

He arrived at the Mahou Kikai suite and was allowed to meet the ambassador. "Greetings, what might you wish to discuss? Perhaps we should install some .. psionic shields to shields to ward off prying ears?"

Chamaran Delegation
"Thank you, Your Excellency. May the Darkness embrace you." Another bow, and the Ambassador walked off to get a drink.

Meanwhile
"Well, Mr...Smith, I believe? Generally speaking, servants don't enter as part of an Ambassador's party, and aren't usually wearing such a suit. Uniforms tent to be more common, I find." Ardelia smiled, with a slight predatory edge. "And also, you're registered in the station's computers as some manner of minister."

"Let us simply say that I am...in the service of the same interests as one of my colleagues here." Smith nods with a slight smile, "We are all servants of one manner or another, only the trappings change. So tell me, Madame, are you...official, or non-official?"

What do you get when you combine the thrill of tapdancing through a minefield with a silver tongue and atrociously bad aim with every known type of weapon? You get Minister <pause> Smith.

Note: This is taken unreal time. It is supposed to take place after the meeting with the Mahou Kikai ambassador. So I might insert stuff along the way

Decius finished his meeting with the Mahou Kikai ambasador and headed to meet the ambassador from the Empire of the Sky. There was much to discuss, especially with.. possible common issues.

Decius walked into the ambassador's office and bowed. "Greetings. I believe we have much to discuss, especially with regard to the security of the... far rim borders that are currently inhabited by... shall I say, less than satisfied individuals?"

Sanje se Akarta, the Hajr Voice, approached the Nashtar Ambassador.

"Good evening. I would like to advance some proposals for the establishment of safe borders between our nations."

"Our mutual borders are indefensible. Such a state of affairs is impossible."

The Nashtar ambassador waited for the worst.

"Therefor, I suggest that we make a treaty which will simultaneously bring great benefits to both our peoples, while ensuring the safety of our borders. I offer reduced transit rates at our transit-points along our border, as well as favored trading status with the Hajr. This will free you to make what agreements you will with our Free clusters. We would ask for a similar concession from your people. This will ensure commerce between our nations, open markets on opposite sides of the Rim, and ensure that at any given time, there are sufficient merchant ships in transit between our territories to make the secret massing and launching of attacks across the border impossible."

"Our government is always open to permitting commercial dealings," Shelton said with a smile, though to the experienced eye he was obviously wary. "Our manufacturing and shipping corporations are not arms of the government, so specific dealings would need to be made with private entities, but for our part we're always willing to negotiate mutual reduced tariffs." He paused. "Though I can't make any official deals on the part of any Nashtari businesses, I am quite familiar with what we import and export. What sort of goods do your clusters require?"

"Our requirements are largely aimed at luxury goods- we require particularly foodstuffs, vegetables, and meats. We also have a great necessity for medical machinery- medical scanners, artificial wombs, and the like. In terms of exports, we can provide first class industrial goods, particularly machines and tools for operation in space and zero-G. Additionally, our stores of raw materials are significant. To clarify the position with regards to trading- the Hajr itself does not have direct control over our civilian Clusters, similar to your own government's divorce from your corporations. Our focus is largely on fees for your transit nodes- are those not controlled by your government? Once those barriers have been lessened, I have no doubt that our flocks will both be able to establish significant trading ties. And of course, such arrangements would necessitate an exchange of embassies."

The Ouster smiled. It was a faintly disquieting, wolfish expression, but it seemed to hold no rancor.

"We control and defend the jump nodes, yes," Shelton said, "though our taxes are focused on what's brought in rather than on simply transiting the nodes. I'm sure the necessary arrangements can easily be made. As for foodstuffs, Mintar produces plenty, and to spare." He smiled back in a disarming manner. "It's been a pleasure speaking with you. We can provide followup contacts with our government, and put your civilian clusters in contact with those shipping companies that can best supply their needs. Is there anything else you require?"
