Pic of charred patch on Dorkstars page....
Dorkfuck has set up a memorial page to the Columbia tragedy.
This is all well and good , however in a stunningly poor taste decision he has a still photo of one of the crew patches that floated down into someones yard......is it just me being overly sensetive or does anyone else find this tacky and a shade repugnant?
Page is here : http://www.st-v-sw.net/SSColumbia.html

There's a lot to hate about Fuckstar, but I wouldn't include this on the list, I'd like it to fit on five pages after all.

You're being oversensitive. That seems perfectly fine and even appropriate to me.Sokar wrote:Dorkfuck has set up a memorial page to the Columbia tragedy.

I have a pic of the patch on my webpage. It doesn't seem repugnant to me; quite the opposite. It's a silent memorial.

Hmmm....I suppose, I guess I just find it personally unplesant. That patch was on someones flightsuit not 20mins earlier.....I think thats what bothers me about it. I was probably having a knee jerk reaction since this is Darkstar were talking about, but I would rather see pic of the crew in life rather than a reminder of their death.

You know. I heard a woman on TV yesterday say that she took her kids to where one of the pieces of debris was so they could "see history". I say, "Fuck you bitch. Let them not have died in vein for some idiot to parade the pieces around like they have the flag that was at the World Trade Center." Yes, it's history, but that's going a bit far.

Why do people stop and stare at a corpse being hauled away by the coroner from a massive car wreck? People are fucked up.

Things like that bother me alot, no one seems to care that the person being hauled away was someones son/daughter/mother/father/wife/husabnd ect , and in a few minutes their probably normal day is about to be shattered like a brick through a plate glass window when they get that awful call or visit from the State Police.....Darth Wong wrote:Why do people stop and stare at a corpse being hauled away by the coroner from a massive car wreck? No. The Shuttles aparently carried hundreds of mission patches on every flight. I have no idea why but that's what the NASA types have been saying elsewhere. Chances are all he has is a photo of a patch that was stored in some obscure but well-protected locker somewhere rather than on someone's arm.Sokar wrote:Hmmm....I suppose, I guess I just find it personally unplesant. What do they want with that many mission patches? Isn't that just useless additional weight?

They sell the patches as souveniers. They also carry up flags and such. Considering that they tends to not weigh very much, it's ok to spend an extra 5 pounds on something that could be sold for $10 each or so.
