I beat the C&C RA addiction by finally being able to crush every computer player in a all out skirmish and beat the campaign with an average of 25 minutes per level or something.

RA2 is my current addiction. RA2 took two days to crush the campaigns. The computer has no clue about effective combined arms ... first you weather storm then you teleport a crapload of aircraft carriers next to the main base and waste all their major buildings in range ... then march a long procession of prism tanks in to mop up. For the Russians it was ludicriously easier. Build 1-3 squid to crush the entire allied navy , enough AA to waste their air power ... and then just crank out Apoc tanks, a few rockets and go storm their base. Right now I'm working on taking out multiple brutal enemies.
Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes.

It looks like I will be heading home this month and desperately trying to avoid getting called up while I'm there. Relatives die at the most incoveinent time.

I just recently found out about that the source code for the 3DO version of Star Control 2 has been released and is being ported to the PC. Downloaded the alpha and have been blissfully spending hours mineral hunting and blasting Ur-Quan.

I think that if I don't lose at elast half of my social life to it that they screwed up the coding because the size and scope is enough to do that after the first hour of play if they got it all right.

That brings back memories.

I wasted so much time at school playing that game, *sigh*

Diablo 2.

It's just so satisfying, charging into a horde of demons, hearing the 'thunk' of your mace smashing into their Satanic flesh...aaaah. -thunk-

The oldest computer game I still have on my PC: "Hyperspeed" from MicroProse. Something about that game still brings me back to play it again after all these years.

Not yet. Of course, I still have my original disks and a 486 sitting next to this computer with 630K of free lower memory to play all of the old games on.

Yeah, I just got D2:LOD, and all I have to say is assassins can kick some serious demon ass. I just need three more points of strength to upgrade my weapons and armor...

Currently going for the Charges and Strikes. My roomie and I are working together, he with a Barbarian and me with my Assassin. We just reached Lut Golein. I'm currently working with Cobra Strike and Dragon Claw as my main combination, with the speed enhancement and regular strike with two Frost Katars as my backup. I'm working towards getting the Shadow Warrior spells.

If I owned a Mac and had a real chance to get hooked on it, I'd probably never had gone to college, and be simply playing Escape Velocity right about now and all of yesterday. :D Same thing might be true if Federation were playable for free and had a real GUI.

I came up with a design for a game really similar to both of those space-sims; it's the *only* design I've made mostly due to the desire to just play it. I am Gendo Ikari, and space-trade/exploration adventure/simulation games are my Yui.
