US Acadamy of Science, I think thats the name, I don't remeber where it is but is one of those "Select" schools, IE if you do good in HS they send you for half the day there.

Class sizes of roughly eight, Fully Techo-embraced, all a student needs is his provided Laptop, Not text books aside from PDF files, They tested Bluetooth out there if I remeber correctly and as an result you have a 10 MB Wireless Network connected to the Schools two T3 Lines and your avarage Teacher has at least two Degrees, one of which is a Masters normaly(Or at the very least a Masters Degree)

Thomas Jefferson High School is another one of the top high schools in the United States.

My brother's school, Palm Harbor University High School, is also one of the best schools in the nation. Illuminatus Primus also goes there, IIRC.

Well, PHUHS was rated near the top based on the number of AP tests taken and their scores, IIRC. They are a difficult, challenging school.

Thomas Jefferson, well, my brother says they kick everyone's ass at math competitions and such. My high school's staff also believed that it was probably one of the best schools in America. (It's in VA).

I can garuntee you its not Hammond, now some of the schools in Montgomery County (such as Richard Montgomery and Blair) have world class programs that might put them in prestigious airs.

Hmm... Would their school average SAT score happen to be 1300+?

How the heck do you have that kind of money? We had to scrimp for eight years to afford new band uniforms (although our music budget was higher), and our football team uses the original uniforms from when the school opened 12 years ago.

I don't like ranking schools based on test scores. There is no correlation between test scores and success in life (financially speaking). In fact, (high school standardized) test scores have a higher correlation with wealth than with college grades.

That makes it much harder to determine the "best" high school; I'd say it's whichever school produced the best people, but that's another can of worms entirely.

There's one in NY City for the best and brightest, there. It has about 1500 students and has a club for the fifteen or twenty of them that score 1600 on their SAT's. They have a different (and probably superior) education system to the one we have in California where we try to turn out standardized students, who neither excel nor sag in any field (hence our bottom-heavy spending).

Only 15 or 20?

Frank: There aren't too many other ways to measure what a person learns... Success in life is influenced by many factors; luck, charisma, family background are just a few. Standardized testing is pretty much the only way to determine and compare how much a person has learned.

My HS can. That's because they like their football team so much, and put a disproportionate amount of money into it.

My HS is a pretty decent-statewide school, I've heard.

Of course, the sports aspect of the budget is slighty dimmed by the fact that the team gets it's ass kicked whenever it plays...

Yeah, and the 8th grade team hadn't won a game in 3 years until this year. The middle school teams are quite good so next year the HS will actally be able to beat the shit out of someone.

Well the schools too small to even field a full team might be doable. :P

Manzano in Albuterkey, New Mexico!... oh wait, BEST high schools, oh, not worst, hmm, honestly, how would you judge something like that? Manzano could be considered a great guitar school due to its national recognization (due to the great and masterful Mr. Ostre... Mr. Ostra... Mr. O! [so I'm a bit biased, but he is a great guitar teacher]). Are you looking for best test taking, least number of student crimes, best programs...

Baton Rouge High School, the only jewel of Louisiana public education, is high up there on the list. I wish I could have gone there, but the lottery was not in my favor.

pretty good... exactly how good depends on wether you studied for it, took prep courses etc. I dont remember what my pSAT scores were, but my SAT scores from back in the day (close to 15 years ago... damn where did all that time go???) were in the 1170-1230 range with NO preparation of any kind whatsoever beyond normal schoolwork.

SAT's... ouch, I'm sorry. I only had to do average on the ACT's to get into college here, and my not so ohh and ahh score hasn't been any sort of guide to as how I'm doing in college (with an average of about 29, I'm pulling a 3.4 GPA where as a friend who scored a 32 cumulative is pulling a 2.2 GPA in an Art Major... moral of the story, ACT scores show how much you can regergatate, but arn't a ture sign of ones ability, though they do provide a nice base for assumption...)
