Re: [VOTE] January Membership
With respect to all other points I must remind the honorable senator of Rule 3.F:Publius wrote:Point of order: The motion to recommit is out of order. The rules of the Senate specifically state that a plurality is all that is required to pass a Category C vote (3.D.I), and that a vote to abstain counts toward establishing a quorum but does not count against the passage of the question (3.C.III). Therefore, each Senator who abstained automatically consented to the main motion's validity as entered. With 44 votes recorded, a quorum to do business is established and Thanas's election is completely correct and valid as per the rules. If the motion were considered objectionable, the proper course of action would have been to move to table the question or to refuse to vote and kill the motion by denying a quorum. Abstention is not a valid means of killing a motion. Thanas's election is proper and valid by the rules of order, and is as full and equal a member as any of this community. As the senior Senator of the board, this member feels an obligation to uphold Thanas's rights as a duly and properly elected Senator. Therefore, this Senator shall also refrain from posting or voting in the Senate so long as Thanas does.
While the motion to recommit is not included, nor is point of order, within the rules at large it is within the Chancellor's discretion to revote the matter...which does not change the fact that until the vote is concluded Thanas will remain a member of the Senate. If you wish for the matter to be settled I would ask that you record your vote.Unforeseen Circumstances: In any voting situation not covered by the rules above, for any reason, judgments regarding the validity, procedure, and administration of the vote shall be at the sole discretion of the Chancellor. If the Chancellor is not present they shall be at the sole discretion of the Whip.

Dammit! I meant to vote for Thanas and hit none by accident. *sigh* I have been seriously off all day.

I re-voted for Bounty, though I'm happy to have Thanas in the Senate, too.

Voted.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Re: [VOTE] January Membership
Stuck with my original vote.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Re: [VOTE] January Membership
So technically I'm an hour early but the trend of this poll has not changed since the reset. We have 29 votes which is sufficient for a quorum. With 16 votes Thanas carries a plurality and is confirmed as the January entrant. He has already been added to the Senate rolls, the motion to recommit has been satisfied and the vote is now closed.
