nBSG ep 4.14 - "Blood on the Scales" talkback (SPOILERS)

Re: nBSG ep 4.14 - "Blood on the Scales" talkback (SPOILERS)
I really liked the use of Kelly. Good to see someone (especially, one of the few left from the mini-series) come to help out in the end.
Agreed about the huge gash foreshadowing Galactica's probable demise. To be honest, I saw the show heading this way since Galactica fell out of the damn sky.
While on that topic, did anyone else laugh when Gaeta said "you abandoned us on New Caprica!" during Adama's "trial"?

and I think Gaeta did mention when the FTL went down that it "had to happen sometime" unless i completely misheard what he said.
combined with Tigh complaing about not seeing a drydock in 4 years i think they forshadowing the time when Galactica's engines will fail and she wont be able to flee Cavil.

Literally, in some cases, where Tyrol was crawling behind the toilets....CaptJodan wrote:And, if I were to a guess, it's a clear signal that the old girl isn't going to make it through the series, in the end. Near the end or at the end, they're going to either have to shove her down Cavil's throat, or have her just up and die, possibly from a hit to that section. Either way, I'm guessing this is foreshadowing her demise.Lonestar wrote:Did anyone else notice the massive hull damage in engineering?
I thought it was pretty cool to finally see some of the bowels of the ship. Not exactly engineering proper, but we got to see a jump drive, and that was pretty nice.
But yeah, that stress fracture's going to mean the Old Girl can't jump for a while... which will give them time for Cavil's bunch to catch up. Although, you have to give it to the Chief -- Right Place, Right Time, and with the right know-how to pull the plug without breaking the ship.
And Xerex? Gaeta was quoting Adama from last episode, about payback coming.

I didn't hear exactly what the chief said there, but my own 2c sense was , going from the look on his face was that it was a damn good thing they didn't jump this time, or they wouldn't have gotten wherever in one piece. I suspect a lot more next week as they continue to tie things up

Doggone that was awesome! I'll bet that stress fracture would have destroyed Galactica if she had jumped.

Adama knew something about Gaeta, as he was talking about 'feeding and bedding' the enemy, glaring at Gaeta all the while.

I do get the feeling that maybe there was a deleted scene regarding Anders. Either that, or we just assume that, with Lampkin's help, he got to Coddle and will be fine soon enough. I loved the line that talked about what Gaeta was probably going to do to Anders (take a leg off) when he got around to it.
It's Jodan, not Jordan. If you can't quote it right, I will mock you.

I haven't seen nBSG yet but I plan to someday but I have a question. Didn't they find Earth? I understood that something bad happened there but surely Earth wasn't uninhabitable. Why couldn't they settle there? As it is now where are they heading(besides disaster )?

Where is the poll? I want to rate this a 5.5. Riveting start to finish.
I was very surprised by Kelly's role...I thought that would go to Racetrack or Hot Dog. Hot Dog got a good bit, but Racetrack was barely used.
Regarding the preview...fuck

Racetrack be lucky she wasnt demoted to corpse; she was busy laughing and sucking up to the ex-Vice President when he came aboard, and I'm pretty sure Lee and Kara got a good look as they walked by. Going to be interesting to see how they handle this for the surviving mutineers, considering there are only so many episodes left.

Re: nBSG ep 4.14 - "Blood on the Scales" talkback (SPOILERS)
Awesome episode.
Pity it looks like Galactica might finally be kicking the bucket, I can't imagine the old girl has much left in her after everything she's been through, and the mutineers and loyalists fighting has probably robbed Galactica of a lot of vital personnel that could have effected even any makeshift repairs. Here's betting she ends up getting abandoned towards the end, simply because she can't jump anymore.
Adamas advance on the CIC was almost pure fanwank with the way it was set up (seemed very similar to something written in the previous episode thread), but it does leave open the question, exactly how many people supported/took part in the mutiny? and how are they going to deal with it. Leave them because they need the personnel and can't afford to execute them all? or round them up and airlock them all?

Props for the Redemption of Captain Kelly. I think he was really only with the mutineers because they busted him out of the brig. He still has immense respect for Adama. I loved the scene between him and Tyrol,
"This was a hell of a ship once."
"Yeah."
as well as the Baltar/Gaeta scene at the end.
As mentioned before, Lampkin nailing the guard with the pen was utter badass.
I didn't see Adama taking his ship back as fanwank as much as an echo of Napoleon's march to Paris after he escaped from Elba, when he asked the men sent to arrest him to shoot him. Using the Marine firing squad that was set to execute him minutes before was a nice touch as well. Awesome move by Lee with the Grenade, and I want a recording of Roslin's speech.
What the fuck was Racetrack doing sucking up to Zarek. Also, it's too bad that Lee didn't get to finish Zarek off.

That was a damn good ep.
Good to see that Gaeta woke up to what the fuck he was doing after Zarek had the Quorum executed. Too little, too late stumpy. You fuck with the 'stache and that's what you get.
And did anyone else think it was a great: "I love you man," "I love you too." moment between Zarek and Gaeta in the moments before the execution.

Christ this episode had me on the verge of tears at points.
Fantastic.
Good to see Kelly redeemed, although the seeds were sown in that scene with Tyrol in the Armoury.
Good to see Lampkin again as well.

Gods...that was incredibly intense...I mean wow....just...
That poem by Yates comes to mind right now.
'Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold...mere anarchy is loosed upon the world.'
RDM is clearly going all out at this point, he's throwing everything he has at us for the last half of this season and the end of the series...and man, he's not pulling any punches.

Re: nBSG ep 4.14 - "Blood on the Scales" talkback (SPOILERS)
Just finished watching it and I hope they keep up that quality. Pure 5, and getting bonus points too.
The scene with the Loyalists marching toward CIC was pure fan service - but it was awesome. Officers, deck hands, civvies all marched together.
Aout that tearing in the FTL-room:
Did Tyrol look shocked when he saw that tear, as if realising that Galactica is going to make her last jump soon?
Hallowed is the Adama, for he is the 'stache... the harbinger of badass.
- rating bonus:
- +0.2 for redeeming Captain Kelly
- +0.3 for the last scene... "It stopped."
- +0.5 for the actor of Narcho, his face while being stared down by Adama was priceless. Like a little boy caught with his hand in the cookie jar... for just a moment or two I was even willing to forgive him.

1. Earth is nuked as said before.
2. More importantly Earth is deserted. No 13th tribe to protect the Fleet from Cavil. and Cavil is chasing them .

Re: nBSG ep 4.14 - "Blood on the Scales" talkback (SPOILERS)
Well, he did try and kill Baltar's lawyer. Kelly was likely really pissed about the human-Cylon alliance. It's really nifty to see his progression in this episode. When he lets the Chief go, and when he drops out of the firing squad, he seems crushed by what he sees as his own weakness.DrMckay wrote:Props for the Redemption of Captain Kelly. I was hoping Hot Dog would blow Narcho out of the sky, but I guess he did what people would probably try to do...rather than blow up somebody you know, and likely your buddy, try and stall them.
Racetrack I hope gets stripped (now there's a thought) of rank, flight status and thrown in the brig. It's be nice if it turned out Skulls is dead as he wasn't phased at all by Laird getting bludgeoned.
Gage needs to be stuck in a room with Helo for fifteen minutes.
There is ONE Quorum member left...Lee. While on the subject of Lee, I did like his mocking of Starbuck's "badassery" with the grenade.

Re: nBSG ep 4.14 - "Blood on the Scales" talkback (SPOILERS)
Great episode and we finally get a reveal on what presumably is the Colonial FTL (it's a series of tubes!) which apparently involves a giant steam piston.
The stress fractures that Tyrol discovered will . . . prevent the Bucket from receiving the Cylon FTL upgrade, forcing Adama to leave it behind while the rest of the fleet jumps away from Cavel and in search of a new home? Or in order to keep the fleet protected by Galactica, to the extent that it can, scrap the upgrade idea and force a slow retreat through normal space?
Regardless the foreshadowing is there . . . no peaceful retirement for Galactica.

Maybe, but in the end Zarek went down exactly as he deserved. And hopefully his executing the Quorum will prevent him from becoming a martyr for any revolutionary idealists left in the Fleet.DrMckay wrote:Also, it's too bad that Lee didn't get to finish Zarek off.
