Looking at the three different types of engines in the OT we have: long cylinders (the secondary thrusters of an imperator) bell thrust vector engines(imperator mains) and the odd bar on the millennium falcon. I suppose that the bell is a highly vector able large thrust armored engine. The cylinder style is a higher straight line acceleration ultra durable and armored system for combat endurance, and the MF's bar is a high thrust top weight system not optimized for combat endurance.

Evidence for the bell's function comes from the relative changes between ISDmk1 and mk2, I.e a new thrust vectoring system on the mark twos. The cylinders bury more of their exposed mass under a sheath of armor better than the bells do while giving a greater length to accelerate the reaction mass. The bar is more commonly seen in the EU on civvie ships and especially smaller transports like the Quasar Fire class indicating a greater thrust for their mass.

You know, even if we completely disregard the question of whether neutrino emitters are affected by neutrinos themselves, the point would still remain that we can probably assume that, if all other things are equal, a device can generally process more of whatever it processes if it is larger or present in greater numbers. Therefore, it stands to reason that heat exchangers and neutrino emitters could very well be a significant portion of the interior of a SW spacecraft, particularly one with unusually high energy handling capabilities. Even if you could stack them three deep, it could very well be that vast areas of the Death Star were filled with heat exchangers and neutrino emitters.
