I don't know about Steve, but I'd not be eager to send astronauts over to FASTA after the Moonbeam Incident. No matter how you spin it, FASTA is getting a black eye from that. Sure Shroompard gets to play the hero, but the fact is one of your astronauts went nuts up there. And since Tian Xia would probably have figured out she was on LSD at the time when they gave her medical treatment, that too has probably leaked. Some how, some way, a FASTA astronaut had drugs during a mission.

That doesn't look good, y'know?
Exactly. Cascadia should partner with the IRT's space program instead.

What did you have in mind? I can't think of much off the top of my head besides additional security forces and nuclear reactors, though I'm sure Coilerburg already has some of the latter...

What do you think of my suggestion that you have Miratia upgrade your tanks? Alternatively, you could simply buy some new ones for a paltry $ 5.5 million per vehicle. They don't have reactive armour, and they can't fire missiles from the main gun, but I can also sell you bolt-on missile pods that could offer you similar capability.

With another 125 tonnes to spare? :P
Yes. The Ares we are launching will NOT be the Ares V configuration...sorry I haven't posted nearly as much about it other than the most recent post which noted that the MSA launch systems will look like this:

Delta II 7925-H (max of 7 MT to LEO, 3.25 MT to GTO)
Delta IV 4760-H (max of 100MT to LEO, 50MT to GTO)
Jupiter 234 (max of 190MT to LEO, 90MT to TLI)
Ares VI (max of 275 MT to LEO, 130MT to TLI/TMI)

Part of the bonus is from the lower DeltaV requirements the other is that the Ares variant we are building uses 4 of the 5.5 segment SRBs and 6 RS-800s on the 1st stage. For the Ares VI this equates to roughly 18,800,000 lb*ft of thrust during peak burn. Anyway yes the Ares VI would be able to get two 125 MT payloads into orbit.

Is Roman Law based on precedent? I don't recall it. Most of the Old COntinent would be following Roman Law.

EDIT: To be more precise, it would be Codex Justinian or later.

Total aside but I know I specifically requested that we accept as fiat for the game that any treaty or international obligation signed before WWII in the real world applies to this world. So far as I'm concerned this would include any salvage precedent from that period or even the concept of precedent within international maritime law.

Yes, but not everyone follows precedental law. Precedents like maritime incidents are especially hard - do you see that in real life that people "evaluate" maritime incidents and border violations based on previous incidents? Uhh... nop ;)

You people suck. Coiler was aiming to NUKE Shroomania to end his game and leave "graciously" and you people whine about how its bad precedent for Shroomania to impound a nuclear submarine armed with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles with nuclear warheads of atomic death and go tooling about with its component parts?

Get away with things? Coilerburg did the fuckup here, and that fuckup saw the collapse of their nation (again). You can understand why we're WARY of returning a nuclear-armed nuclear submarine armed with nukes back to a nation whose stability is tenuous at best.

I don't know about you gents, but I'm pretty spooked and pissed off at the notion of nuke-subs in my waters. But I don't know, in Game 1 Shinra had its navy nuked in the eyes by Shepistan, so you might have a higher tolerance for this.

Frickin' anti-Shroomites.

But fuck that, you people can have your goddamn submarine. We're DONE with it anyway.

You don't return a nuclear submarine with armaments to a failed state after you find that submarine in your territorial waters through some 'freak accident'

Oh, and I hope you removed the nuclear warheads, right Shroom? Because a collapsed nation has no business in handling nuclear weapons.

We'll be handing them to San Dorado. They're not a failed state, at least not in a non-communist definition. ;)

I'd like to see public statements backing the Sovereignty up! Fuck those anti-Shroomites! Come on, everyone's favorite friendly nation came on the verge of nuclear attack, and now we've got Cascadia and those anti-Shroomite Shinrans ganging on us for doing what's reasonable? BAH!

RogueIce wrote:Reposting from Story Thread:
  • General Information: President Shinra orders mission to get pictures of the SSGN Warden being dismantled in Shroomanian docks. If successful, pictures will be "leaked" (through supposed Shroomanian sources, not Shinra) to the press. He is also planning how to make sure the point gets across that this is not a good idea should such an incident occur in the future. Because President Shinra doesn't like it any more than President Garrett did.
We'll return the SSGN intact to the San Doradoans. The fact that I'm willing to do that despite having that submarine come and try to murder me means that it's best not to do any public humiliations of the Shroomanian government that's willing to return the SSGN intact to the San Doradoans despite having that submarine come and try to murder me.

You should plan how to make sure the point gets across that nuclear-armed submarines sneaking into Shroomania, and other nations', is not a good idea should a (nuclear) incident occur in the future. Because I'm sure President Shinra wouldn't like it any more than President Garret.

Unless you're a bunch of anti-Shroomites like Shadow Hitler, a.k.a. Shitler, who'd find "violations" to "precedents" more alarming than the fact that some Coilerburgian nutfuck was considering starting a nuclear war and was positioning strategic assets to do just that.

The Coilers placed a submarine with a full compliment of nuclear weapons in Shroomanian waters. As happy-go-lucky as I usually am, you can understand why I'm not putting on my Happy Face. You'll get your sub back in one functional piece.

Fingolfin's telling me to do nasty things to that submarine. But the worst I'm willing to do is to send the Warden home with its torpedo tubes chock full of homosexual pornography. It's an act of generosity.

The fact that to Shroomania, the Cascadians and Shinrans are more worried about returning the Coilers sub than the fact that the Coilers were about to kill the fuck out of us, says a lot. And not about us, or the Coilers.

The sub did whack another sub and then pulped the front. I would say by the laws of action reaction, you can either repair the damn thing (which will easily cost hundreds of millions) or ship it back on a heavy lift ship.
