I'll talk with Siege about the CSR force and whether it gets there in time. Realistically, it's going to take some time for this information to ripple from the airspace traffic controllers monitoring the flight to levels where the information becomes widespread. It's possible via elastic time that by the time this CSR force is in the air, we're already in the middle of being rescued by local FTO contingents (the FTO guards Coilerburg's borders with its neighbors already, as per the outcome of the war waaaay back in the first "year" of the game).

It is a masterful stroke by Stas, admittedly. He gets to have his troops play hero, giving the CSR a positive public image, and gets to look at the situation in Northeastern Frequesue as icing on the cake.

I figure my guys might get to know. The Syl people could hear from the Vineyards liasons they no doubt have, and while I'm working on relations with San Dorado, I don't think they'd go running to the Shinra Republic first. Though I'm sure the Cascadians will get notified fairly quickly, and it might not be too unreasonable if they then told us. Especially if Sophia Garrett reaches out to her husband's friend Rufus Shinra in this time of crisis.

Anyway, I figure the best way to do it is for us to make the offers as a sort-of setup as I did (the intent of that post is that my P-3s are being "readied" although they haven't launched yet) and then you and SiegeTank can decide what to do with the available assets, should they be needed.

EDIT: IOW you get tacit permission to RP them if you need them. Hopefully at least somewhat consulting with us so they don't do something wildly out of the norm for who they are and what they do.

Yeah, basically you can use the CSR troops as well.

We have
- a company of PCIA Spetznaz, 85 men ("Beta", the second best we have  ) in the Mi-26 transport/command point,
- four Ka-52 command and assault helicopters leading four wings of 3-4 heavily modernized Hinds (Mi-24PN) each,
- an Il-76MF with a unit of the VDV (with air-dropped BMD-3s),
- AEW&C planes - 3-4 MiG-31Ms and possibly one Beriev A-50M,
- approximately 20 Su-39 ground assault planes.

If that's still not enough to shoot the crap out of anyone there, well too bad that the FTO forced my stratobombers out of there ;)

Yeah, the FTO will probably get there first: in fact, I was surprised there weren't extra choppers following the flight, loaded to the brim with heavily armed assault teams. And perhaps a couple of gunships, too.

Anyway, Russian paratroopers to the rescue! Sidney, Stephen, you better duck :P

There. Shroomania does its part to make sure the Crimson chopper carrying Sydney Hank (and Garret) to safety won't end up crashing into a MESS or FTO fighter jet or something.

Guys, relay communications through stratellite!

EDIT:

And yes. The Shroomanians have their best elephant on the ground, working on the case!

Hmm.. I'm half tempted to send in some Varangian Guards Special forces and helicopter assets.. but I think the party has gotten way too crowded.

YES! FrankThe Elephant!

Does he wear elephant-scale body armor, though? It would be sad to see him hosed down by AK fire :(

Then again, he could ambush the assassins!

He doesn't need armor. He succeeds through stealth and guile. ;)

But yeah, he could have elephant-scale body armor if he was to engage in direct heavy combat operations. Normally he doesn't take on heavily-armed militants, but he can do other things aside from trample people to death. He can do reconnaissance, and is fully trained in Long Range Surveillance, being invisible behind enemy lines while tracking targets with his keen elongated nose-trunk and his big ears!

EDIT:

He IS partnered with Tony Jaa, the Protector!

His name's Frank. Frank the Elephant.

An elephant with a bad attitude!

I wonder how presidents Hank and Garret react when they see Frank charging to the rescue :D

From his past exploits we can figure out that Frank's also trained in enhanced interrogation techniques.

Would anyone object if I fleshed out my border guards a little? Judging from where you guys are taking the human smuggling bit, you are bound to run into them eventually. I would imagine that they were modeled on the KGB border guards.

I wonder if those slaver smugglers ever deal in Shroomania, or if the place is just too goddamn weird for them to bother.

Pretty much. For the most pert, this is King Arik trying to show his people that CATO is a Good Neighbor with nothing to fear from them. While usually the business conducted could have been carried out through a phone call of Foreign Ministries, my in-game persona feels that the personal gesture was important.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
