"Hey guys, we're just gonna post our 3rd fucking album of the same joke, 18th century pirates rapping, isn't that just wacky?! Anyway, download our POS album because you have no taste, and we cater to that."
but i don't give him a huge amount of shit over it because we have like fundamentally different tastes in music, he's all about shit like rhythm and lyrics and such, i'm more into melodies and harmonies and what-not (i'm the sort of guy who cares about how strong the trombone section is in a performance of Ride of the Valkyries, he's the sort of guy who wants block-rockin' beats)

(not racist)
That's like saying all rock songs are about whiny rich kids telling how hard they have it (or is that another genre). Anyway, I actually rock, I'm just commenting on how you guys generalizing rap unfairly (for the most part).
I love the smell of September in the morning. Once we got off at Richmond, walked up to the 'G, and there was no game on. Not one footballer in sight. But that cut grass smell, spring rain...it smelt like victory.

also lately i haven't been happy with achewood as much, there's always been that "oh, beef, you lovably stunted man of depression" thread, but it seems like lately onstad's been really shoving the strip over to be basically the "roast beef is really depressed" show.

To be fair, The Lonely Island guys are the only ones I've seen who can do comedy rap, and actually look like they understand and appreciate the medium.
Also, they don't try to broadly parody everything in a genre and make fun of very specific elements. Such as the prevalence of boat scenes in rap videos.
Oh yeah, and they are actually p. decent artists when they try.

yeah, but I don't think they have legions of annoying fans who make unintentionally racist comments about how the halfassed parodies are somehow better than what they are parodying, and how cool they are for not listening to what is being parodied.
i always get a "rap is good if it's white people rapping about white people things." vibe from a lot of nerdcore / novelty rap fans.
p.s. if you listen to weird al over the age of 12, then you are a scrub.
i believe homer pre-answered that line of holier-than-thou bilge in a particularly bad episode of the simpsons
he said
"he that is tired of weird al is tired of life"
and he was right.
"white and nerdy" is far, far superior to ridin' dirty, it has wit, soul and charm
maybe you could learn a thing or two from our pal, ol' weird al?

Schuyler Colfax wrote:Soul? I like white nerdy to, but it was mainly 3 minutes of white stereotypes cleverly delivered in a rap song.
It's also written with a deep and knowing affection for nerd stereotypes; it takes an actual intelligent nerd to come up with "I memorised the Holy Grail really well, I can recite it right now and have you ROTFLOL" and "I'm fluent in Javascript as well as Klingon". That, right there, is soul; passion for what he's doing/talking about. If he's faking it, you know, kudos, but I don't think he is.
