My newspaper recently ran a survey of the local high school to try and ascertain the effectiveness of their "Silent, Sustained Reading" program. It found that, of the kids surveyed, only THIRTEEN PERCENT reported being able to maintain their concentration for the full half hour each day, and only twenty-one percent of the students could maintain their concentration for TEN FUCKING MINUTES!
