Tell me bout Global Conflict Blue...

Or gcblue. Is that thing worth it's status? Compared to Harpoon, the interface is lots prettier (but then, Harpoon isn't really a "game", it's just a simulation). It's also apparently editable so I can play with my Future Soviet Navy if I like to - or can I? Harpoon has simply lots of stuff in it; this game, I frankly haven't figured out yet if it has the ridiculous number of parameters, vessels and weapons like Harpoon.

What does this game have in it, and is it an overall worthy wargame?

Well, I played that - it's basically a bunch of nifty 3D skins for Harpoon-like combat (IIRC, it also uses Harpoon DBs). Too bad there are so few vessels in the stock game.

Recommendation earned, but if you want to have fun with the game, you'll really have to mod it yourself to get the Navies you want, not what the game gives you :)

Of course, it should be noted that it's still in beta.

The UI is a bit clunky (unless I'm missing all the automation) but on it's face it's far more playable than Harpoon. If they add tiny, grainy black and white videos of 40mm trying to shoot down Satans it'll be just like the real thing! :)

I have to ask as I barely have any idea what I'm actually doing, but running through the surface warfare tutorial I somehow managed to lose both of my ships to the US destroyer's torpedoes. I told them to engage all and the US ship spammed torps, and since they were slow as hell I just had the Korean ship kill it since it seemed to be vastly more capable in that range, and upon killing it the torps decided they wanted to follow the nearest contacts and welp...

Anyway, is that...normal?

Whoa. I did the surface warfare tutorial and killed everyone before I worked out how to launch a chopper (the different hanger slot types aren't labeled). Is there any unit AI? Every different option for attacking (quick, target and datum) only seems to fire once instead of a general 'engagement' and if this is how it works against incoming missiles things will be messy.

By looking at it it reminds me kinda off the old Janes Fleet Command.

Is it any better than that? I remember the Janes game to be pretty annoying, because when you faced with a squadron of long range anti-ship bombers (like Badgers) you only had a chance of survival if you had an SM2 equipped ship in your fleet. And even then it became an irritating click-and-spamfest to fire as many missiles as you can to shoot down incoming vampires.

If you didn't have SM2 defence system, then you could still rely on the old SM1. If you didn't have that, it was time to kiss your ass goodbye.

That, unfortunately, was pretty much how it was going to be.
