Well to be fair, back in season one it did look at one point like they were going to set her up with Trip.

However, that point is long past now, and it's patently obvious where they're headed.

If they can somehow muster the willpower not to take it any further than Picard/Crusher ever went, (You had the tension and stuff between them, but I don't recall them ever actualy *doing it*) then they might just be able to keep it plausible.
But I'm afraid I don't have that level of confidence in B&B's writing.

Who cares?

I stopped watching before the end of the first season.

In order to generate ratings, they'll have her sleep with the dog...

Well, how about giving Porthos a few romantic entanglements here and there?

How about a sleek and sexy little Klingon targ? Or how about a romantic meeting between Porthos and T'Pol's pet sehlat back home?

I'm going to buck the trend here and say "a random alien". Having to major characters sleep together would mean that the writers would actually have to deal with the consequences of their actions in later episodes and actually write *gasp* CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. If they stick to the Star Trek way, they'll have her boff some one-episode wonder and thus never have to worry about it ever again.

The aforementioned one-episode wonder will likely be played by Brannon Braga.
