Let's not bog down this thread of Gundam 00 bitching with bitching about another unnecessary OYW sequel. Just remember kids, nothing exists after Char's Counterattack.

It took a week to get through one page, and it's only managed 13 pages since October. I don't think "bogging down" the thread is a major concern here.

I wonder if Revive's "this is in bad taste" meant that he was sharing some of Anew's emotions? Or if he was referring to Louise?

But what about F91, and Victory Gundam?

Also, wasn't G-Savior set in the UC era too?

As someone who has actually seen G-Saviour, I have to say it wasn't all that bad beyond totally having nothing to do with UC and being a B-movie, and as far as the later is concerned it had some pretty good CGI for a B-movie.

So, what, the 30th Anniversary show is going to be Stardust Memories 2: Electric Boogaloo? Lame.

Female Gundam pilot.

The last time that happened we got 0080, which is awesome (though admittedly Chris isn't the main character). I'm willing to be at least a little excited about this, and optimistic that it won't be complete drek.

Where do you get the idea that the chick is going to pilot the Gundam? Sunrise will never give a woman a Gundam again. They'd rather have a crossdressing pretty boy that is corrupting the sexuality of men across the world so long as it leaves the mighty in the cockpit. The parallels between 0083 and this 0081 project are quite striking. Remember, going ahead with 0083 killed Tomino's chance of making an F-91 series. So once again we will return to the OYW rather than pushing the universe forward. Sieg Zeon!

'Test pilot transferred to special forces unit' positively screams 'I am the best pilot for Gundam'. The again, all we know about this project is the name of the dude doing the character designs and a vague synopsis. So really, I shouldn't have any impressions yet, but I think it's not too outlandish for the chick to be pilot - especially if it's an OVA series.

On the upside, we might seen another Kampher in action.

So she'll have about as much screentime as Chris then? Maybe she'll love Gundams just like Nina. Now that would be a riot.

Man that fight was so dull in retrospect. The Kampfer decimates Scarlet Team mostly off screen and he loses because he gets surprised by pop-up vulcans. I know thematically the whole fight is supposed to be a senseless battle, but what the hell guys! Izubuchi must've spent days working on the sexy GM Sniper Customer 2 and they blow it up with barely a mention.

Bah. It's all fruitless retconning anyway. Give me some real MSV.

But the villain looks like the love child of Garma Zabi and Revive Revival! How could this possibly end badly?

Who said he was the villain? Given Sunrise's tendency to sympathize with the Zeeks and the fact that you apparently can't have enough Zaku kits I figure it's just as likely for him to be the protagonist, especially with a team named Phantom anything after that whole Phantom Pain thing from GSD, and MS IGLOO where they even managed to paint the Feddies in a negative light in the one that centers on them.

I question your judgement in taking a statment with the words 'love child', 'Garma Zabi' and 'Revive Revival' in the same sentence all that seriously.

I'm just hoping that they portray the Zeon rebels as the bad guys for once.

I've been getting a little sick of the portrayal of everyone from earth being moustache-twirling evil and/or mind numbingly stupid.

I can't even watch destiny anymore because of the sheer idiocy of the united sta..... I mean the earth alliance.

Given that Zeon is invariably trying to blow up* the Earth in all their appearences, it's hard to imagine them not being the bad guys. That said, the way the Earth Federation is portrayed has reached the point of parody.

Is dead wrong. I mean, hello? Amuro? Bright? The Earth Federation is laughably corrupt, but that doesn't translate to 'all Earthnoids are stupid evil people'.

That's debatable since the protagonists are usually people who are at odds with the traditional Federation officers. Sure you get a few exceptions here or there. Probably the most damning example is the officer from F-91 (the one voiced by Norio Wakamoto) who wanted to use Seabook's gang in the Guntank as human shields.

Yeah, I know, but Earthnoid is pretty wide descriptor. A more accurate things to say is that 99% of the Earth Federation government and military are gigantic cocks, because seriously, they were already huge assholes in MSG, and got worse from there.

By everyone from earth, I’m talking about the more recent portrayal of earthers as ignorant, racist fuckwads in the SEED series. 00 has mostly avoided it, but to say that seed destiny left a bad taste in my mouth with its blatant anti-American hypocrisy is a colossal understatement. It was fine in seed when you knew that there were good people in the Earth Alliance like admiral Halliburton, and the "evil" actions are the result of what is essentially a coup with Azrael seizing control of the alliance in the post-Joshua confusion and fervor. Fast forward two years and the alliance have apparently been corrupted by a bunch of Eurasian assholes who are able to control the democratically elected president, and whose only goal seems to be one-upping their last evil deed. That combined with the fact that it portrays the alliances reaction to the break the world incident as overdoing it when they are completely justified and turning orb into an entire fucking country of mary sues just pisses me off.

SEED
Well, there's your problem. Given that Gundam 0081 does not take place in CE, you only have to worry about how they're portrayed in UC. Which, while certainly not flattering, isn't as terrible as it is in SEED.

Yes, but anytime I say anything negative about a gundam series, it will inevitably devolve into a rant about how much SeeD Destiny sucks, because I just hate it that much.

No, I don't know why, I just do.

R2 isn't exactly Gundam related, and more to the point I think it's a lot better than Destiny is. R2 was a train wreck of a series, but it was at least interesting to watch, amusingly tacky and visually more interesting than the terrible designs and repeated animation that undoubtedly plagued Destiny.
