Not surprising. I am in a position where I can fight anti-porn arguments and most of the predictable counter-attacks fail, just because of my personal situation (happily married, 2 kids, criminal record is clean as a whistle, my wife and I watch the porn together, I know the difference between sicko porn and decent porn and will hammer anyone who tries to generalize, etc).

Most people (and certainly someone like you, a minor) are vulnerable to a lot of ad-hominem attacks and condescending attitudes if they try to defend porn.

Boys love women in bikinis, and can freely see them on the beach. In my country, it's actually perfectly legal for a woman to walk around topless. But I can see why she spoke up; she is a teacher, and a female, after all

Actually, one other reason to dump the sig was bandwidth consumption (true for all animated GIF's, particularly big ones), not to mention the fact that it was rather distracting.

I feel for you Hemlock. I had the exact same situation more than a year ago. My dad gave the exact same lecture that you got, including some shit about "your sister needs you, and she won't talk to you if she catches you, yadda yadda yadda." From now on, I only look at porn when they are away or it's very late at night. Never been caught ever since.

You generally don't see women walking around on the street topless, but it's more common on the beaches. It was actually the result of a sex-discrimination case, brought by a woman who felt it was unfair that men could walk around topless on a hot day and women couldn't. Probably the only womens' rights lawsuit ever brought to trial that all of the men agreed with

Actually, the best thing to do is to raise the subject of porn BEFORE you get caught. Ask flatly why porn is bad, and turn it into a purely intellectual debate, with no emotional impetus.

This is the best tactic because once you win the debate (which I consider a sure thing as long as you're a half-assed competent debater, your opponent isn't a complete "Wall of Ignorance" imbecile, and you recognize how to seek the important concessions), it doesn't mean jack shit if they catch you.

But arguing over it AFTER getting caught is bad news. I had the pre-emptive conversation with my wife, and it worked out well for me. Be proactive, not reactive.

You cannot possibly win an argument on porn immediately after being caught with it. Your opponent will throw a dizzying array of "appeal to motive" and ad-hominem fallacies at you, and while these attacks are strictly illogical, it is exceedingly difficult to explain that to someone when they think they've got you on the ropes (or worse yet, if they're simply stupid and cannot grasp logic).

You're thinking about the PROM (Programmable Read-Only Memory) then. It's often called the CMOS, but that's just the type of microchip (C-something MOSFET.)

The battery is just called, surprise, the backup battery
