You're spending dozens of billions on new carrier hulls and expanding the run of 5th generation planes, and you think you're "off balance"? ;) Well, well.

Also, since when did we make our militaries "larger"? I comission hulls just to barely replace the old fleet, same for the airforce and army. The force levels stay at more or less constant size. And I wouldn't really manage an expansion with this latest crisis anyway.

Speaking of shiny toys, I still need to buy some carrier aircraft off you. I'll write you a check for $800 million for the following items:

- 8 x S-3C Viking
- 4 x KC-3C Viking
- 4 x ES-3C Shadow
- 4 x E-2D Hawkeye

I've decided that I'm going to use F/A-18Fs and EA-18Gs instead of A-6Fs and EA-6Es; Shroom can hook me up with those. I'll also be reactivating my old TA-4s for carrier training until I can get a navalized version of the T-50 (an undeclared project that I've been working on completely behind the scenes for some time) operational.
I ship Eino Ilmari Juutilainen x Lydia V. Litvyak.

Having 5th gen fighters but 4+ generation bombers is no longer satisfactory. The CATO will be switching to full five generation everywhere. As for PAK-DA long range stratobomber, it should be rapidly nearing prototype stage or even having the prototypes already flying off.

I guess I'm going to hand wave the fighters that were in trials to be the Su-53 and not the Su-54...... *makes changes*

Your Su-54 analogue could've taken off faster than the USCR one, after all ;) . But generally, such an over-sized craft would take more time to make compared to baseline Su-50.

True. I'm off to go trace back some old posts to say it was the SU-53 that completed trials rather. That way, we can at least rationalise the fact that the aircraft was carrier worthy and can have catapult assisted take offs.

Stas, I'm going with the assumption that Shroomanian F-22s are basically the Shroomanian analogue to the SU-50 baseline (which according to Fingolfin is a joint Byzantine-Shroomanian BAM and Crimson Sukhoi thing), since the SU-50 itself is practically a F-22 analog anyway - 5th generation, stealthy, etc.

Wouldn't the SU-53 be analogous to the hypothesized FB-22 then? Because that's what I'm designating the future SU-53s I'll be using.

(Blah, you should've mentioned Shroomanian guys along with the Byzantine dudes in that COMMUNE post of yers. :P)

Who the hell would need that hull? Varyag's frame isn't 50-60 years old - this hull is. Museum ship is it's best fate. Scrapping is what I'd recommend.

Shroom, why not simply use CATO designations for the planes? No need to make things more confusing. :P

As for those talking about military expansion, the UCSR isn't really expanding anything at the moment. We are simply integrating the forces of the CSR and the USSR and replacing older, outdated stuff, with more modern equipment. Speaking of which, once I'm done putting together the new UCSR OOB, you can expect a lot of older Soviet equipment to become available for purchase.

Dudes, I'm putting together a simple primer for people who'd like to get involved with SD.net world (as per Bean's request). It will have an upated map and everything, but I need some sort of a comprehensible map of the current situation in Velaria and onthe goddamned continent. If somebody could PM me those, I'd be really grateful.

Well, if the thing was conceived as a joint Byzantine-Shroomanian-Crimson thing with Byzantine Air MacMillan working with Sukhoi, then it would be kind of odd that Sukhoi would be the ones taking all the credit by having their name in the designation Su-50/53/54. :P

(Hey, even Fingolfin is getting confused with em!)

Besides, with future projects becoming joint all-CATO ones, I think it'd be in poor form for the projects to end up being designated Crimson-style with their designations only bearing the names MiG or Su(khoi) when we're all in it together rather than kowtowing to you Crimson-Shadow guys :P

The designation F would merely stand for 'fighter'. Or we could call our fighters 'CF' for Cato Fighter.

I support moving away from old fashioned Western or Soviet-style naming designations and giving ourselves new names (since we're making entirely new futuristic designs anyway!). For the future!

Similarly, Shroomania has been neglecting updating its military for a while and what we're doing now is a necessary modernization. We're gonna be reaching the 2020s soon, it'll be THE FUTURE, we CAN'T just stick to vintage 1980s weapons systems mangs! I mean, shit, we're supposed to have flying cars and androids by now!

The situation in Minoy and the CFR actually looks a bit more like this:

Image

1 is Mortimer's claim (with Saviour's Hide at the very southern tip), 2 is the Winter Army, 3 is most likely the last remnants of the Revolutionary Front, 4 is Minoy, 5 is the Southern Republic, the green part's the San Doradoan mandate, and the red is a combination of the Klavostani and Indhopali zones.

Excellent. I want to buy a few T-50As to replace some of my older trainers. Probably 36 for a start.

I made that map, mind you. I'd trust Siege's interpretation of it over my own. I've got a pretty version of the map of Frequesque in Photoshop that I'll post up later today after I've modified it appropriately.

Oh, and the Miratian Harbour annex should be connected to Miratia. I'm building a rail line to it.
On a slightly different note, will anybody sell Miratia an assault carrier, or will they have to build one themselves?

Oh, and how much for one of those FTO destroyers?

The rail line is the black line connecting the harbor to Miratia. You can't really claim all the land in-between however, because the Tanstaafl Raj would throw a fit if you did.
