For a good laugh(but don't presume logic here.)

Is a start of the ongoing of ST vs SW on GameFaqs.
Seriously so far was the best about someone disputing that onscreen the Slave-1 missle aren't big enough for 190MT

Just out of curiosity, how come ST fans ALWAYS remember "Outrageous Okona," but ignore all examples in which lasers have damaged UFP ships?

I believe it's because the whole thought Turbolasers has Laser in it's name and the Outrageous Okona...states that laser won't even go through their shields.
Thus it gives them an instaneous illogical victory...no fuss, no muss.
While most of the better debaters here will remember stuff that they don't(other episodes where Picard raises shields because a planet showed laser activity, and also the Borg cutting laser...etc) and then their arguments fall.
Really I do love they still clung to that the ISD cannot have 200GT TL because nothing on screen showed the same effect of hiroshima, let alone magnitudes of order greater.

They figure you can blow away a 10km wide area of rocks with a sub-Hiroshima weapon? Or perhaps they didn't watch AOTC?Ghost Rider wrote:Really I do love they still clung to that the ISD cannot have 200GT TL because nothing on screen showed the same effect of hiroshima, let alone magnitudes of order greater.

They probably saw it...but thought that the Seismic charge was maybe a couple KT because it didn't vaporize the asteroid.
Anyways started a thred there...will just go in after a day to see and honestly see if any of them can come up with a good reason how the entire AQ will defeat the Empire...aside from Superweapons.
Truly I feel it would be a good test to see if I learned anything from you guys.

A few highlights....
***
They reject the 200 gigaton figure because they think it contradicts visuals. More specifically, they think it would make a large explosion, despite the fact that shields also absorb energy, and despite the target having scifi-tech armour with unknown properties. This same society can also go faster than light and build moon-sized battlestations, the former being quite impossible as far as we know.
Then they dismiss calculations done on asteroids in TESB because obviously Lucas wasn't thinking too much when he put them in....
So are visuals valid, or not?
***
They think the Death Star inputted far less than 2.4e32 J into Alderaan, (and much, much less than the 1e38 J figure that we see) because they don't know how it would have dissapated the energy. This is the same Death Star that can move faster than light. (Or the equally impossible 'at lightspeed', to hear them gripe.) The same Death Star that we know has an emergency thermal exhaust port.
***
They think 300 megatons is enough to turn a planet into a debris, by ripping off the crust somehow. Wonder how we survived Tsar Bomba without all dying. Or why smaller planets like Mars or Venus even exist if the simply act of ripping off Earth's crust would leave it so massless to make it drift apart. They also think around 300 megatons would somehow put Earth in Jupiter orbit.
***
It occurs to me that the next time someone asks where the e32 J GBE of a planet comes from, refer them to the equations of U = -G*m1*m2 / r, the fact that in this case m1 can simply mean the mass of a thin shell and m2 is the mass of everything inside it, the constants (G=6.6726E-11 m³/(s²·kg), M=5.97E24 kg, and r=6.371E6m), the concept of integration and the final equation of U = 3GM²/(5r). This way, they can calculate it all on their own.

Oh the stupidity: pg 14, last post
Totally ignoring the fact that the DS did destroy a planet w/o killing everyone inside. I guess this idiot doesnt' realise they have active means of channeling the waste heat away from the DS and protecting the crew.Angelblade wrote:If the Death Star was in fact able to produce the 2E32 joules as claimed, then either:
1. The Death Star is 100% thermodynamically efficient. (Which by the way is absolteluty impossible. Even more impossible than the Speed of light limit...it's just plain not possible.)
or
2. Even at 99.9999% efficiency...ie. only .000001% of the Superlaser's power was lost as heat into the Death Star, even if the Death Star were a perfect black box emitter (which is highly unlikely) the ENTIRE Death Star would be heated to several thousand degrees Celsius, killing everyone on board and glowing white hot. (Neither of which happens)
Thus it is impossible for the Death Star's beam to be that powerful. Happy?
Oh and don't pull that the Death Star is 100% efficeint because it's science fiction because:
1. They never say it is.
2. It is straight up impossible. Totally utterly impossible.

Yes, but different idiot trolls. Look how many different people brainlessly recite the old "nav-deflectors immue to lasers" argument even though it was refuted years ago. I'm convinced that there is a factory somewhere in Paramount studios churning out hordes of stupid Trek Trolls to maintain the fan base.Ghost Rider wrote:Wait till you think they have done this for more that 2 years....seriously when I left, it was the same arguments

Yeah, Angelblade's a fucking retard. I'm Shootfighter55 on those boards, and for weeks I've been "debating" with this dumbass. Cyborg Stan's already gone over all of the horrible arguments he's brought up. All this guy does is keep repeating them like a broken record, putting up a Wall of Ignorance just like Darkstar. Interestingly, he even provided links to Darkstar's site on that board, saying that it might be an "interesting read" while denouncing Wong's site as fanboy garbage (He pussied out when I challenged him to provide a valid rebuttal of this site).
To make matters worse, he's considered one of the top dogs around there, and a bunch of Trektards give him sickening praise when they aren't bashing SW, me, or Wong. The level of debate their is pathetic. The SW vs. ST thread has gone on for well over two dozen pages due to the Trekkies' Wall of Ignorance policy. I have nothing to fear from their pathetic "arguments," but their stupidity has gotten so frustrating that I actually cringe at the thought of having to go back their and respond to pages and pages of crap. That, combined with a heavy load of real-life work, has kept me from posting on the ST board for a couple of days.

The Gamefaqs.com moderators are seriously messed up.
