1/72 Bandai vf-25f Alto Custom

Post by Grahf: Seeker Of Power »

UPDATE: Just adding pics of Battroid mode!!!

Just finished building this little bad boy. I was surprised how well engineered this model is. It doesn't suffer from bad structural integrity like my old MG Zeta Gundam and PG Zeta Gundam. It is very light which hopefully will lengthen the life of the joints. I haven't bothered transforming it yet. Fighter mode is the best looking out of all three.

PICS!!:

Man, those have to be the coolest fucking toys ever made.Although, the design is a little dated now. Has any one designed a version based of fighters that weren't designed in the 70's?

I want to see some based on that new Russian prototype, the Su-47. It's got those forward-swept wings, it looks totally badass.

If there is one thing we can rely on when it comes to the Japanese, it is that they make fucking awesome plastic models. Seriously Grahf, post pictures of it transformed; that should really get Hav. :D

Funnily enough, the VF-25 isn't actually based on any real fighters. Though as its design is supposed to harken back to the VF-1, that means it's indirectly based upon the Tomcat.

I'm pretty sure the YF-19 is supposed to be inspired by the Su-47.

Ford is right that the VF-25 is not directly based on any real world fighter (although some Hobby Japan articles have noted it is very Su-27 like) as most Macross Valkyries tend to be. Oddly enough in Battroid mode you can really see how the VF-25 has bits and pieces of tons of different Valkyries. If you want another cool forward swept wing design, there is the VF-9. It's hella obscure even for Macross.

Woah, the battroid looks really good! Normally(in my opinion) the stance of a battroid mode suffers in a transformable model. Not so in this case.

I wants one... Hook me up? Veef? I know you got contacts.

I actually don't own the 1/72nd scale model. I own the Ozma type DX toy. See here. The standalone super parts set for the 1/72nd model VF-25 is now available, along with the bundle sets.

Only problem is, Macross Plus was produced long before the Su-47 made its first flight. The Grumman X-29 was in existence around that same time, though; if anything inspired the YF-19, the X-29 would probably be it.

The Battroid mode looks good as well; very impressive model in general. I would totally be all over a 1/72 Ozma's VF-25 with armour pack. If they could get it to transform while armoured up, I would be nearly speechless. :)

Man the model with all the Super Parts looks so gundam. Or maybe Virtua On.

So where do I get one? I had a look on ebay but they've got a lone 1/100 transformable Messiah and a gaggle of Super Parts kits.

Those're some sweet pics, and that's one impressive model.

Those Macross VF craft were always my favorite anime military mech. I mean, the first ones we see in the series are essentially transformable F-14s--IN SPACE! What's not to love?

It's kind of unfortunate that the model can't stand with the super parts on in GERWALK mode. I've heard the DX toy has trouble standing with when equipped as well. Granted, that includes basically any Valkyrie toy these days.

I'd be cool with you holding it up if that's what it takes to see the GERWALK mode.

It should stand in GERWALK mode without the Super pack equipped.

Just can't look at Michel's 25 in GERWALK mode without imagining neon-clad speakers underwing.
