Sorry... wrote that up before I saw your post, and was a bit late posting it.

Rejecting the following bids:

Langley: not as fast as desired. Minimum 30 knots. Desired is 35+. Also, not a big enough gun. Requires 35mm autocannon, desired is 57mm. Maximum is 3".

UCSR: insufficient range. Minimum is 2000 nm. Desired is 3000 nm. Also, insufficient endurance. Minimum is 7 days, desired is 10.

You're welcome to rebid with new specs, though you have to be plausible.

EDIT:
Fast Patrol Cutter(WFPC) requirements

Objective requirements (would like to meet)
3000 nm range
35 knot speed
10 day endurance
57 mm stabilized autoloading cannon mount
air self-defense capability
anti-submarine capability
AShM capability
RHIB carriage
cost less than 30 million ROB(including GFE)

Threshold requirements (must meet)
2000 nm range
30 knot speed
7 day endurance
displacement between 200 and 700 metric ton
35mm stabilized autocannon mount
Crew between 18 and 35
cost less than 50 million ROB(including GFE)

Beowulf wrote:Fast Patrol Cutter(WFPC) requirements

Check.
35 knot speed
Check.
10 day endurance
Considering we've got the fuel to go 3,000nm, I guess this ought to be a check too.
57 mm stabilized autoloading cannon mount
You want a smaller gun? Uh, okay, I guess we can do that.
air self-defense capability
Check; Mistral is standard, we'd be able to mount Stingers or some Starstreak analog as well.
anti-submarine capability
What kind of anti-submarine capability are you looking for? I guess we could fit a towed array, but that would be about the extent of it.
AShM capability
Check; Exocet is standard but we can change it to Harpoon if you'd prefer that.
RHIB carriage
Check.
cost less than 30 million ROB(including GFE)
Let's say the exchange rates are favorable and call it a check :D.

EDIT: Oh god, I just realized, this whole Miranda affair is going to cost me a whole lot of ill-gotten prestige, isn't it? :D

Hmm, in that case, let me adjust my bid:

I'm going to offer 2 vessels:
SF300 (Flyvefisken Class)
(Not exactly 100% identical to the real world Flyvefisken Class since Byzantine requirements were slightly different)
Image

Displacement: 500tonnes at full load using composites, leans towards 590 tonnes if using nonmagnetic steel
Propulsion: CODAG using 1 x Byzantine Heavy Industries (BHI) LM 550 gas turbine, 7030hp (uprated LM500) driving one centerline propeller, 2 x BHI 16V396 TB94 diesels, 7,200hp driving two propellers, 1 x BHI 12V-71 diesel, 630hp (Can use indigenous propulsion systems), 3 auxiliary diesel generators
Maximum Continuous Speed (CODAG): 35kt
Maximum Speed Diesel Only: 24kt
Maximum Speed Hydraulic Drive: 8kt
Endurance at 18kt, 7 days max: 3,000nm
crew: 22-29 depending on role

Weapons outfit
The SF300 is a modular vessel, and can adopt 3 main roles: minelayer, ASW, Mine Countermeasure, and anti-ship role. Marked are what the configurations would be like. The modular nature means that the ship is quite adaptable for a range of weapons, be they CATO or MESS.
  • 2x 4 cell Mk41 can use other missiles as well, so long as same size (or remove 24 ESSM to install 8 Harpoons)
  • 1x OTO Melara 76 mm/62 gun (removable)
  • SeaRAM
  • 4x 323 mm MU90 ASW Torpedoes (ASuW/minelayer/MCM role), can use 533mm torpedoes as well.
  • 60 mines (minelayer only)
  • UAV control stations
Sensors
Sensors are modular as well, with the following that can be outfitted:

Variable Depth Sonar, Air Search radar, side scan sonar (MCM role), fire control radar, surveillance radar

Cost: 34 million Solidi (equal to ROB), after MESS discount, 30.6 million.

SF350 (Flyvefisken Modified class)

Larger than the SF300, the ship is geared for less modularity and more for multi-role. Because it's less modular, the hull has been streamlined for more optimal speeds.

Displacement: 700tonnes at full load using nonmagnetic steel, 600 if composites
Propulsion: CODAG using 1 x Byzantine Heavy Industries (BHI) LM 550 gas turbine, 7030hp (uprated LM500) driving one centerline propeller, 2 x BHI 16V396 TB94 diesels, 7,200hp driving two propellers, 1 x BHI 12V-71 diesel, 630hp (Can use indigenous propulsion systems), 3 auxiliary diesel generators
Maximum Continuous Speed (CODAG): 35kt
Maximum Speed Diesel Only: 20kt
Maximum Speed Hydraulic Drive: 8kt
Endurance at 20kt, 10 days max: 3000nm
crew: 35

Weapons outfit
The SF350 is non modular with a larger weapons load, however, it is customisable for customer needs.
  • 2 x 4 cell Mk41 VLS
  • 1x OTO Melara 76 mm/62 gun (removable)
  • SeaRAM
  • 4x 323 mm MU90 ASW Torpedoes (standard), can use 533mm torpedoes as well.
  • UAV control stations
  • RHIB capable (up to 2)
  • Towed Sonar Array
Sensors
Sensors are modular, with the following that can be outfitted:

Variable Depth Sonar, Air Search radar, side scan sonar, fire control radar, surveillance radar

Price: 55 million Solidi (equal to ROB), with 10% MESS discount, 49.5 million (or if you want more...)

The UCSR sees that you need speed less than distance. Then offer...

1234.7 Nakat-class Fast Corvette [MESS reporting name Nanuchka-IV]
Image

Displacement full: 730 tons, standard: 640 tons
Propulsion: three M-507 diesels 30 000 hp summary power
Speed: top 35 kt, economic 18 kt
Range: 4000 miles at economic speed
Autonomy: 10 days
Crew: 60 (30 as skeleton)

Armament:
2x6 Yakhont launchers (12 Yakhont missiles)
Osa-AKM anti-air CIWS missile launcher (20 9К33М3 "Osa-AKM" missiles)
1x 76,2 mm automatic gun (AK-176)
1x6-barrel 30mm AK-630M artillery system (3000 ammo - 2000 in the feed, another 1000 in a storage container)
Anti-submarine depth charges or torpedoes on deck

I know the crew is large, but seriously, if you want lots of range, endurance and lots of weapons, a larger crew is something unavoidable.

Oh, and for those of you who brazenly put essentially corvette type ships' crews at "35" just to placate the customer (I'm looking at you Langley! The real crew is over 50 humans), be more honest.

It's a typo, I swear. I swapped the 5 and the 3 by accident and was in too much of a rush to even notice the first time around. It's been corrected now.

SURTASS on that? That's too small. SURTASS takes way too much volume because of the number of processing units. The smallest SURTASS equipped ship is 1,500 tonnes, and it doesn't have any weapons!

This is cover to establish a militarist in power for an indeterminate amount of time, to preform military arms building my character would not allow; and introduce Shroom De Gaulle, who will eventually become the head of the Commonwealth Army.

An Aerospike on a fighter? Good luck making that work. Also, the craft geometry looks pretty wrong for a craft meant to endure say Mach 6 or even 5.

Sure hope that's a conventional stealth aircraft.

Have you looked at it? Of course it isn't! It has six engines! And you didn't just seriously imply that you expect us to design a realistic looking 6th-generation hypersonic suborbital deathplane, did you? Please tell me you didn't.

PS: And I'd hardly call it a 'fighter' myself, considering it's bigger than an F-111.

Wellll... there's a reason why every hypersonic aircraft is just one big giant wing or wedge.... Pulling a high g-maneuver at MACH 10 is as good as .... committing suicide...

It has variable-geometry wings, but that's besides the point, which is: why do you get so bothered over an illustration that so obviously is there solely to increase the 'whoa cool' factor of the Warbler entry? Maybe we just have different ideas of what works for this game, but I honestly can't see why of all things anyone would focus on that.

Well, some people spend time on engineering their new weapons...including their looks. Or at least borrow ideas from real engineers. :) So when someone's cool engineering solution gets the same parameters as a simple drawing I could see that being slightly offsetting.
