Just the looks being a bit off doesn't mean I didn't spend at least some time considering the parameters of the plane itself. Besides, it's not like you yourself - and by extension CATO - didn't use an Ace Combat design for a 5th-generation fighter...

Yeah, I did - but that's because the illustration looked like an actual PAK FA. And 5th generation isn't hypersonic, which is a whole load of extreme requirements. At least looking at the shit people blow in hypersonic test tubes would be good manners ;.

Which I did. But the X-43 seen from above hardly looks exciting. So I went for something that could conceivably swing-wing into something that would resemble (at a passing glance from a distance) something like that flying bathroom tile, and yet would at the same time be at least somewhat interesting to look at.

Swing wing have no chance being hypersonic. Also, there's a lot of stuff which went through the tubes.

Look, whatever man. It is what it is, and it does what it does. Think of the picture whatever you want; if it doesn't work for you, chalk it up to an early sketch by an overeager designer who used to draw concept cars for Universal Motors.

Stas, I have two images for you here;
1. The initial proposal for the XB-70 Valkyrie.
2. The final proposal for the XB-70 Valkyrie.

As you can see, they're wildly different. The Warbler technically isn't even off the drawing board yet. Do bear that in mind.

Right... the B-70 was only a M3+ capable aircraft, not a hypersonic aircraft. Much different, and even more extreme environment. You don't have to worry about the airflow getting hot enough to actually dissociate the air passing by. Common features of hypersonic aircraft are highly integrated body/engine designs, with relatively small wings. It's common to use body lift as the primary way to generate lift, which results in very small wings indeed.

Well, lots to digest after a week gone. Made a quickie story post and I'm working on updating my various OOBs. I have no idea when I'll get around to updating the online version. I'll either do what Beo did and put it on the SDN Wiki or use my Yahoo account and make a GeoCities page like Wilkens.

It also allows us to cross-reference each other's items easier. So if we have identical ships (or nearly so), only one of us needs to create the information on it.

This and I think Shep already put Cascadia on it.

I think the SD.net world part needs an update. It's kinda outdated.

I have been thinking of putting my OOB on the wiki but I haven't had time to go look at the formating and working it out. Also, I have a habit of making incremental changes to the OOB, in terms of fluff.

Honestly for me editing the OOB post is just easier. I've added pretty much half again what i put up originally including the entirety of my high command apparatus, the upper echelons of the support branch, tons of background on judicial and legislative districts, plus the whole Homeland Security department. For me throwing that into the post itself just seems easer than wiki editing.

It really ends up being about the same amount of work for BBcode post editing or wiki editting. Wiki gives more control over formatting though. It also give automatic table of contents.

Hey Wilkens, wasn't the arrangement that I do the CVN construction, and you do the amphibs? Speaking of which, gimmie another round of one LHD, one LPD and one LSD of my current classes, with suitable upgrades of course.

Also, I'm decommissioning a bunch of Burke-esque DDGs and Tico-esque CGs as I get more STAR destroyers and STAR cruisers. So speak up now if you want some, otherwise they get to go be museum ships or become razor blades.

Before I actually consider purchasing, I'd like to know pricing first.
I ship Eino Ilmari Juutilainen x Lydia V. Litvyak.

Well they originally cost $1.1 billion according to one website I looked up. So I'll say 50% of that for being used and all.

Miratia.

I've got enough gear that I'm actually going to make a few separate articles for it. You know, stuff like "Miratian Military Aircraft" and "Miratian Armoured Fighting Vehicles".

Honestly I think the price would be lower. That $1.1bn includes an awful lot in terms of the weapons load and electronics that won't be carried over. That and since I'm ALSO decommissioning a bunch of Burkes and Ticos the market is gonna be a little bit flooded.

In other words if ANYBODY wants to buy a 'Burke or Tico' then right now is the time since I've got more than 40 each to get rid of over the next decade or so.
