I don't know if they have ties to the IRA or not, but they definitely have ties to domestic terrorism organizations, they also CONDONE TO SMALL CHILDREN ON THEIR WEBSITE illegal activities. In the state of Tennessee, as well as most states, it is illegal to disrupt hunting activities on public or private land, of which they have hand books on ways to do it. They also spread BS about how most farmers are evil people who enjoy torturing cattle. They aren't. Farmers and ranchers rely on their cattle to be healthy, well fed, and in good physical condition. It is their livelyhood. If they make their cattle suffer, then that results in lower amounts of money they can get, and can put them under. In fact, every farmer I know, including family members and close friends, greatly respects their livestock. PETA is full of nutcases who don't have a lick of common sense, plain and simple.

Personally I think killing animals for food is fine, using parts of those animals (cows for example) to make clothes makes sense too...leather is fine in my book....hunting creatures just because you think they'd look damn pretty as a coat or nailed in pieces to a wall...isnt....

As regards the topic...PETA can go fuck them selves....though I've always thought that....

Though I think human skin coats might be one to suggest to them....

PETA doesnt seem to understand that these cattle are probably living better lives then most humans in third world countries...

Yes, they think that farming is evil. They think that all animals on farms are mistreated and beaten. They also condone ways to disrupt legal hunting activities on public and private lands, a highly illegal activity.

Actually, in my former position as opinions editor for the college paper, I made use of my little bully pulpit to run an article with the conclusion that the organization [PETA] is composed of domestic terrorists and publicity whores who not only condone human misery but actively cause it in their misguided crusade. This prompted a PETA activist to write a letter responding to my article, accusing me of the same things. The funny part is that the activist posed as a student (made up a fake name, year, and major) rather than simply admit that it was from an activist.

As an aside, there is a web site devoted to cataloguing the abuses of so-called animal rights groups and other activists; I've forgotten its name at the moment, but it is linked to activistcash.org, which profiles who donates to these groups.

Also, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has been linked to bombings at animal research centers; PETA has been linked to a particular bombing at the University of Michigan (I believe) that occured on September 11th.

They fail to see that hunting is a vital part of the ecosystem. In the southern and easter US, humans are the ONLY predators capable of killing large animals, other than the occasional bear. If hunting was made illegal, animals would overpopulate and die of starvation and widespread disease. The disease would most likely spread to humans if animals were not contained. Look at California, for example, PETA and their cronies have gotten mountain lion hunting banned, and now the cougars are losing their fear of humans. They have begun eating pets, scraps, and small children.

Just to be fair, the mountain lion problem in CA is more an issue of human expansion. A huge amount of construction occurred into mountain lion habitat during the 90's. Conflict is bound to happen. However, the stupid PETA people do not want to allow wild pig hunting which I think is very important to protect the health of the parks here.
