I recall seeing a bit, but...I dunno. I'm not really concerned about global perception of MESS insofar as they're allied with my boss.

I think Skimmer made some comments about how it was odd for certain nations to be part of certain alliances considering their geological position and such. Not entirely sure though.Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:Was there ever any of that sort of bitching in this game? I don't recall.

Dude, FASTA got Ms. Moonbeam on a no-fly list to Jerusalem and issued "tase on sight" orders to JSC security detail. It's Pegasus who caved in under Lord Moonbeam and let her on their private flight. FASTA just assisted with the (very difficult) mission plan, organization and provided mission controllers. In fact, Kaklamanis is about to throw a fit over Pegasus and their passenger policy in the very next postRogueIce wrote: Oh yeah, the space thing? That's all on you FASTA people. The MSA has this thing called screening that we use to avoid incidents like those. Not the "political muckety muck wants his batshit daughter in space, ergo we put her in space" policy FASTA (and that new private venture, it seems) apparently uses.
And Moonbeam passed all screening and qualified herself on the Soyuz fair and square. She's scary precisely because she can fake sanity so well

Re: SD.Net World Redux Comment Thread VI
Oh hardly. I spent years of game-time building up to this point, first by making peace with the commies, then by encouraging business with PeZookia (generic drug deals) and Byzantium (the oil, Arabiapolis & ship deals), then by getting the Old Continent involved in the Coilerburg investments, and finally by negotiating a free trade agreement with CATO in exchange for a naval station. It's been a long time since the OC was portrayed as a place of communist villainy, we've been profitable trading partners for years, and the talking heads will further spin the treaty as a symbolic victory for capitalism ("red markets opening up!"). I'm sure there'll be some rioting (Sprawl-scum doesn't need a good reason to riot), but it'll be hardly any worse than usual.PeZook wrote:EDIT: Oh, BTW...I just realized that with San Dorado's ideology, Siege is going to have FUN trying to control the rioters

Given that I'm suprised that your folks haven't all tried to join up, i mean two games now and you approach Stas and his crew for his cold blooded communist hatred of the man love but not the MESS's embrace of long voyages at sea by ships filled with seamen? Besides, who's been complaining about the MESS anyway? No one's been complaining about them, since in both games you guys have always started out with your massive entanglement of survivalist states pre-packaged with you big boys in it showering together and slapping each other in yer backsides for a job well done. We're kind of used to you guys coming in all grouped together, single-file, sandwiched on top of one another, anywhoo.

Did the NFT withdraw from the Frequesuan Neutrality Treaty when it pulled out of the FTO? Joining the CATO is a pretty blatant violation of Article 5 otherwise.

So the NFT wants to turn traitor on us, because I wisely shut my mouth when a nation that could crush Miratia flat in an eyeblink deployed troops to a location that I didn't want them to. Great...
Well, you can return all those FTO destroyers and FASTA technology, then, Seige.

Exactly! Even if I'd actually done anything about your deployment in the CFR, it would have been trivially easy for you to strike back with utterly overwhelming force.Beowulf wrote:You do realize that I have a land border with you, right?Ryan Thunder wrote:So the NFT wants to turn traitor on us, because I wisely shut my mouth when a nation that could crush Miratia flat in an eyeblink deployed troops to a location that I didn't want them to. On a somewhat less depressing note, we'd be happy to show Huang Di around a bit. Granted, there isn't anything particularly impressive outside of the Pezookian-built shipyards at Erat and the government architecture in Mirakar. Perhaps the Emperor would like to experience the Mirakar Air Show?

Ugh, tell me about it. That's why I went to the trouble of putting naval assets in the North... Unfortunately with recent events I feel that I can no longer count on allied control of the entrance to the bay there, so that doesn't look like very good long-term military investment, either.Czechmate wrote:Tian Jiao really is superbly placed to control the Yangtze, isn't it?
On second thought, I still feel less threatened by the NFT than by Tian Xia. So maybe I won't cut off ties with them for leaving us hanging like that. XD
